Overview:

Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) is seeking a Senior Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer I or II - Supplier Surveillance Rep to be based in our Aiken, SC location on the Savannah River Site (SRS).

The Senior Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer I or II - Supplier Surveillance Rep will provide technical support to the Supply Chain Quality Assurance group as a self-motivated QA Specialist.  Serve as a QA Lead on a variety of activities such as reviewing procurement specifications, data sheets, engineering drawings and associated documents, and providing input to technical and quality leads. 

Responsibilities:
Specific responsibilities as a Sr. QA Engineer I:

Provide QA support required to facilitate procurements necessary for SRMC facility operations and project scope. Serve as QA Procurement Specialist on project teams, review and provide input for all phases of acquisition process. 

Coordinate and/or perform Supplier Surveillance and vendor performance monitoring.  Create reports and communicate results on procurement QA issues.  Evaluate proposals and make recommendation based on proposed programs/tasks in area of assignment.

Develop, document, and communicate the planning of all QA support functions through the project life cycle, including estimating resources necessary to provide QA support functions from conceptual design through turnover to operations.

Perform internal and external assessments, evaluations, audits and surveillances.  Plan, prepare, conduct and report on surveillances, assessments and monitoring of quality-related activities in assigned areas.

Develop qualification programs on tasks concurrent with other phases such as design and fabrication to better evaluate and minimize future quality problems.  Propose and incorporate alternative solutions to existing problems for continuous improvement.  Perform all detail work necessary to implement actions needed to incorporate best alternatives.

Support facility / project needs within assigned area by conducting reviews / approvals in areas such as procedures, procurement documents and design output documents.  Perform reviews and provide input on selected Safety Class and Safety Significant engineering deliverables

Coordinate corrective action responses for external assessments, audits or surveillances.

Review, issue, track, follow-up and closeout various deficiency documents

Provide input on project plans and requirements to mitigate potential QA program problems during project execution with the intent of obtaining high quality deliverables meeting project requirements and objectives.

Provide project QA guidance and support, compliance oversight and expertise in effectively implementing the Integrated Safety Management, QA and continuous improvement processes.

Certification with continuing technical training may be required for performance of inspections and surveillance activities. Specialized training may also be required to support certain technical areas

Business travel will be required.

Other duties as assigned.

Additional duties as a Sr. QA Engineer II:

Incorporate conventional QA engineering or scientific practices and a variety of complex features such as enhanced quality requirements, application of new or special requirements or processes, and difficult coordination of oversight requirements into problem solving and program planning.  Provide limited guidance and direction to less experienced QA and technical personnel.

Perform reviews and provide input on safety related and mission critical engineering deliverables

Provide expertise and guidance and mentorship to less experienced staff members.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED and relevant work experience in Quality Assurance, Quality Control, or Engineering in the fields of operations, maintenance, construction or industrial manufacturing as defined in the job description.

The candidate(s) selected to receive an offer will be offered the position level commensurate with their experience and qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Associate's degree

Working knowledge of AWS Code, and current Certified Weld Inspector qualifications

Working knowledge of ASNT SNT-TC-1A Radiographic Testing requirements, and current certification for Level I or II Radiographic Testing NDE technique.

General computer skills for preparing documents and use of spreadsheets for compiling and analyzing data

Strong written and oral communication, teamwork, and vendor interface coordination skills

Knowledge of activities such as quality assurance, quality control, engineering practices, maintenance and manufacturing activities, and procurement processes

Experience in commercial nuclear power QA or Department of Energy nuclear facility QA

Current NQA-1 auditor or lead auditor qualifications

General math knowledge (e.g., statistics, algebra, geometry) to complement field experience.

Hands-on experience and knowledge of Savannah River Site administrative and business systems

Working knowledge of ASME and AWS Code, and SNT-TC-1A Nondestructive Examination requirements

USD $72,900.00/Yr.
