Location: South San Francisco
Closing Date: 19/10/2024
Hours: Full Time
Type: Permanent
Job Requirements / Description
Summary:

The Pharmacokinetics and Drug Metabolism (PKDM) department is committed to the discovery and development of Client, effective, and safe medicines. We are seeking a skilled Software Developer to work alongside PKDM scientists, providing automation and standardization frameworks to streamline data access and cloud computing. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with scientists to build tools that empower them in their daily work, while also fostering learning and technical growth across the team.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

The candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and configuring a multi-user, version-controlled environment hosted on a central server—whether in the cloud or on-premises. This includes installing and configuring R, IRKernel, JupyterLab, and other relevant packages. The successful candidate will ensure that the environment integrates seamlessly with a data warehouse, enabling users to access data via SQL queries. Additionally, the developer will create and maintain a standardized R environment across all users, ensuring reproducibility of results.

The role also involves setting up shared directories and collaboration tools within shared environments such as JupyterHub, and providing comprehensive documentation and training materials for users. The goal is to provide an automated framework for quantitative pharmacology modeling scientists to develop and share their modeling applications (e.g., R Shiny) as web-accessible tools throughout the organization.

A key aspect of this role will be the ability to communicate effectively with non-technical experts. The candidate should possess a teaching posture, capable of explaining technical concepts clearly while working with scientists to enhance their skills. The ideal candidate will foster a collaborative atmosphere, learning from others while helping them develop their technical expertise.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree with 3 years of experience OR Master’s degree with 1 year of experience

Requirements:

BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent field.

2+ years of experience with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes).

Working proficiency in R, with a strong ability to integrate and manage packages

Demonstrated experience accessing data warehouses using SQL.

Familiarity with cloud services such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, as well as experience in on-premises server management.

Proven experience deploying R Shiny applications.

Basic understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and pharmacokinetics.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative mindset and an eagerness to learn and share knowledge in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation:

The pay rate range above is the base hourly pay range that Aditi Consulting reasonably expects to pay someone for this position (compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including but not limited to, a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, location and end client requirements).
