Firmware Engineer
Responsibilities
As a Firmware Engineer, you will join the Audio Research team, contributing to the design, development, and deployment of software and firmware solutions for advanced audio research platforms. This role involves close collaboration with hardware engineers, research scientists, and program managers to integrate and align hardware and software components seamlessly.
Key responsibilities include:
Analyzing, designing, developing, and debugging software and firmware for audio research and prototype devices.
Ensuring firmware compatibility with hardware components through collaboration with hardware engineers.
Partnering with research scientists to integrate audio technologies into research platform devices.
Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
3+ years of experience in embedded software development.
Strong programming expertise in C/C++ and Python.
Knowledge of microcontroller architectures and communication protocols (I2C/I2S/SPI), and experience with sensor interfacing.
Proficient in using oscilloscopes to debug audio and sensor signals.
Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
Skilled in Linux OS with knowledge of real-time operating systems (RTOS).
Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation skills.
Preferred Skills
Experience with audio frameworks (e.g., Audio Weaver, Audio TDM bus, audio codecs).
Familiarity with digital signal processors (DSPs).
Experience developing low-level device drivers and user space applications in Linux.
Exposure to cloud-based software deployment systems.
Top 3 Must-Have Skills
3+ years of embedded software development experience.
Expertise in microcontroller architectures, I2C/I2S/SPI protocols, and sensor interfacing.
Ability to debug and analyze using oscilloscopes.
Nice-to-Have Skills
Background in audio technology (Codecs, DSP, etc.).
Experience with low-level device drivers and Linux user space applications.
