Overview:
Edgewater Federal Solutions is seeking a JavaScript Developer to support the IT program at a major national laboratory. Mission Customer Engagement empowers mission-focused scientific and engineering communities. We are dedicated to delivering essential support through our diverse capabilities and resources including application engineering solutions, a high-end mission service desk, and long-term mass storage systems. Responsibilities:
On any given day you may be asked to collaborate with others to investigate, plan, gather requirements, design, develop, test, document, analyze problems, and support software systems and applications.
Additional duties may be assigned:
Develop high-performance web applications using Javscript(React, Vue.js, Node)
Work closely with customers and end-users to define and document application requirements;
Test, debug, and refactor frontend and backend web application code;
Translate detailed design into application systems;
Test, debug, and refine applications to produce the required product;
Prepare required documentation, including both program-level and user-level documentation; enhance applications to improve performance and add functionality;
Provide interactive issue troubleshooting, following user issue tickets through to resolution, documenting resolutions in a knowledge base, and working with application and system owners to identify advanced solutions.
Qualifications:
BS/BA and 2 Years experience
In lieu of a degree, a total of 8 years’ experience is applicable.
U.S. Citizenship is required per contract to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy Q clearance.
Experience with software engineering standard methodologies
Experience with Linux, Mac or MS-Windows operating systems
Experience with some or all of the following: Javascript (pre-ES6 and ES6/7), React, Next.js, Node, HTML/CSS, Git, MySQL, SQL, MongoDB
Familiar with testing frameworks(Jest, Playwright)
Experience with automation, orchestration, continuous integration, and continuous delivery including tools such as Docker, GitLab CI, Openshift
Testing, debugging, and refactoring frontend and backend web application code
Virtualization and cloud technologies
Migrating from conventional deployments to continuous integration/continuous deployment
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to identify creative solutions
Ability to operate in a dynamic environment and motivated to continuously improve processes and skills
Exceptional interpersonal, communication and prioritization skills
Desired:
Ability to apply critical thinking skills and apply detailed data into useful information, such as documentation and developing policies, processes and procedures
Ability to work independently and within a team
