Overview:
The Senior Application Developer reports to the Application Development Manager of Affinity and will assume responsibility for custom web development within Affinity. The team develops enterprise caliber software applications on the Microsoft platform. The team is led by managers with software development backgrounds and strives to use modern practices and technologies to develop software the right way. There is a dynamic team environment that encourages collaboration among developers to make the whole team better. 

 

You will be responsible for supporting existing applications and implementing process improvements, formulating and defining systems scope and objectives through research and fact-finding combined with an understanding of applicable business systems and industry requirements under general supervision.  You will be responsible for supporting acquired custom applications by analyzing, understanding, and converting these applications into our enterprise platform. 

 

This position can be entirely virtual/remote/work from home and you can sit anywhere in the US.

How you'll make an impact:
Self-navigate existing custom solutions and make enhancements to them

Directs, prepares, designs, codes, tests, debugs, and maintains complex computer programs 

Under general direction, formulates and defines system scope and objectives

Work with users to support business applications, and investigate operational problems/system requirements

Devise or modify procedures to solve complex problems considering capacity and limitations, operating time, and form of desired results

Refine business requirements from which programs will be written

Design, code, test, debug, and document those programs

Responsible for completion of development projects

Solve user inquiries that arise during day-to-day operation

Regularly provide coaching, guidance, and training to less-experienced analysts/programmers

Develop business cases, requirements, and performance metrics

Provide administrative and project support to the team

Participate in after-hours system related functions such as production support, conversions, upgrades, and implementations

Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and technology staff, including offshore personnel, to ensure that communication is open and ongoing

Provide guidance to infrastructure teams with respect to hardware requirement for new and existing systems

Ensure compliance with IT Policy, Sarbanes-Oxley and SOC2 requirements

About you:

Required:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, or related field

5 or more years related experience, including the following:.NET Core, Standard, Framework

PHP, LINQ and Entity Framework (EFCore), MVC

Modern JavaScript libraries (JQuery, AngularJS, React, Blazor)

Experience with JSON, XML, YAML, POCO objects and Datasets

Relational database experience, including Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle

Stored procedures, T-SQL, temp tables, transactions, database performance tuning

Experience with JIRA & Azure DevOps: repository (TFS/GIT), boards (track work), and pipelines (build solutions).

Experience with automated build and deployment processes (Octopus, TeamCity)

Experience with automated unit testing and test-assisted development (xUnit, NUnit, MSTest)

Web analytics (Google: analytics, tag manager, data studio)

Experience with agile software development methodologies

Experience with integrations between Salesforce and internal/external systems

Experience with common development design patterns such as factory, repository, singleton, inversion of control (IoC), and strategy

Solid understanding of systems development and project delivery life cycle

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Office

Preferred:

Azure experience, SQL Server 2016 and beyond,

Experience integrating with API’s

Experience with Telerik or similar UI components

Experience with ReSharper

Experience with domain driven design

Experience with Salesforce Financial Services, Insurance Industries and Marketing Cloud

Experience with Microsoft D365

Understanding of systems development and project delivery life cycles

Formal project management training or certification  

Experience with Microsoft Visio and Project

Knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley requirements, SOC2

Work Traits:

Strong user and client relationship management skills

Excellent written and oral communications with ability to work effectively and provide feedback to senior level managers and vendors

Self-starter with strong work ethic and ability to excel in fast paced, high demand environment

Proven ability to independently manage tasks and priorities, accurately estimate work and meet deadlines

Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneous
