Job Title: Business Intelligence Engineer
Location(s): Seattle, WA (Hybrid – 3 Days in Office)
Business Intelligence Engineer with strong technical, analytical, and business intelligence skill sets and experience to be a key partner for Advertising business focusing on Business Ads.
This role will be the dedicated key contributor supporting the 'Business Ads' business. The person will build out the data infrastructure, business insights, and analysis practice for stakeholders, gaining visibility across Ads, Retail, and Finance orgs. Client will generate insights to guide product and partner strategy, and they provide direct business strategy support to senior leaders.
As a key analytics partner, the Business Intelligence Engineer will influence the direction of the business by leveraging our data to deliver insights that drive decisions and actions. This role involves translating broad business problems into specific analytics projects, building out scalable data solutions, conducting deep quantitative analyses, and communicating results effectively. The role will help the organization identify, evaluate, and evangelize new techniques and tools to continue to improve our ability to deliver value to Customers.
This role requires an individual with excellent business, communication, and technical skills, enabling collaboration with various functions, including product managers, data engineers, finance managers, software engineers, data scientists, as well as senior leadership. The successful candidate will be a self-starter comfortable with ambiguity and complex datasets, with strong ownership, and with an ability to work in a fast-paced and high-energy environment.
This BIE will be actively involved in building scalable data infra, understanding impact of product changes, and identifying opportunities for growth through exploratory analyses including use of statistical techniques. This role provides the opportunity to use emerging technologies such as machine learning to build models and tools used by management for strategic decision making.
Key Responsibilities:
Own the design, development, and maintenance of ongoing and new metrics, reports, analyses, dashboards, etc. to drive key business decisions.
Explore and deep dive into new areas to help us understand key opportunity areas to drive growth, e.g., new ads inventory in other channels or ad products.
Build/rebuild scalable data infrastructure as well as data pipelines and dashboards to enable new metrics, e.g., what types of Books can further drive ads growth for which types of Books Publishers?
Present findings and recommendations to business leadership.
Help build data systems that leverage diverse data sources to provide a comprehensive view of advertiser engagement and performance.
Recognize and adopt best practices in reporting/analysis: data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation.
Job Qualifications:
- 3-6 years of experience working with large-scale complex datasets.
- Strong analytical mindset, ability to decompose business requirements into an analytical plan, and execute the plan to answer those business questions.
- Strong working knowledge of SQL.
- Background (academic or professional) in statistics, programming, and marketing.
- Graduate degree in math/statistics, computer science or related field, or marketing is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills, equally adept at working with engineers as well as business leaders.
