Job Description:
As a GIS Developer, you will support the Client’s advanced GIS capabilities for one of their programs. You must be able to take direction from the Program Manager to both create and manage the creation of GIS maps, map attributes, and associated mapping reports in support of their application. This will include the ability to use and direct the use of ArcGIS in the performance of these duties. You must be able to use data submitted in Excel spreadsheets, databases, or other similar systems to create GIS maps and populate associated fields as per requirements. You will also receive requests from Client field users and provide expert advice and support regarding all GIS mapping to/from their systems.
Required Skills, Experiences, Education, and Competencies:
Create and manage GIS maps, map attributes, and associated mapping reports
Use and direct the use of ArcGIS for creating and managing GIS maps
Use data from Excel, databases, or similar systems to create GIS maps and populate fields
Provide expert advice and support for GIS mapping requests
BS/BA in GIS, Geography, Cartography, Computer Science, or related field with GIS experience
4-8 years of experience in GIS and GIS application development
Minimum of 5 years of experience designing, building, and delivering web applications
Experience developing web applications using ArcGIS API for JavaScript or other JavaScript mapping APIs
Strong problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills
Experience with ESRI GIS software suite (Arc 10.x), ArcSDE, and ArcGIS Enterprise
Ability to work independently to develop GIS tools, perform analyses, and create multi-layered maps
Experience in developing and maintaining linear referencing systems (LRS) and GIS applications
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Oracle SQL and PostgreSQL for data extraction, analysis, and scripting
Prior experience with LRS/GIS and ESRI Roads & Highways or similar systems
Self-starter with technical background and minimal supervision needed
Experience with Reporting Tools such as Power BI
The hourly range for roles of this nature are $50.00 to $70.00/hr. Rates are heavily dependent on skills, experience, location, and industry.
