Job Description:

Working on a dedicated Software Applications Development Team, producing

mission-critical software for State Agencies and using the latest industry-leading Agile development methodologies. The person will be a key contributor on software application development and maintenance projects.

This position is a Java-based Web Applications Developer who belongs to an Agile DevOps team and performs all Developer roles on large, complex system functions and products. This position requires advanced knowledge, skills and abilities of application coding, technical environments, development tools and typical application development processes. The environment is a JAVA-based web platform.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Experience:

Principles, theories, and practices of computer science,

Concepts of computer hardware operation and application development,

Concepts of computer screens, pages, features, functions and coding concepts,

Computer relational and other databases and database analysis software,

Learn and use automated software applications.

Understand project definitions, scope, objectives, business work flow processes and

diagrams, application and database requirements, business functional specifications,

design and technical specifications, business and technical standards documents, test

case scenarios and other analysis and design tasks and reports,

Use logic to analyze or identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts associated with

information or data to draw conclusions,

Find and collect information from data sources.

Use computer software programs to store data, retrieve stored data, and analyze retrieved

data, and arrange results in a presentable format,

Review and analyze data, summarize report findings, interpret results and make

recommendations,

Identify problems or potential problem areas and recommend solutions

Evaluate information against a set of standards.

Gather and document business requirements,

Define and document standards for use and operation of software.

Convert standards, user specifications and requirements into design plans.

Develop test cases to evaluate the success of both software upgrades and

modifications,

Test applications using standard methodologies and techniques.

Validate applications for requirements, quality, responsiveness, performance,

accessibility, data integrity, functionality, user acceptance,

Ensure products comply with regulations, policies, procedures, and operational practices.

Prepare software documentation for future reference and maintenance needs

Anticipate the impact that new or modified software will have on existing standards and

systems.

Plan, organize, and prioritize workload in order to accomplish tasks and meet deadlines.

Deal with people in a manner which shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism.

Work effectively with a work group or team to complete tasks.

Build Team spirit and cohesiveness.

Organize, chair, facilitate and document meetings with users and technical staff.

Prepare and present technical training and mentoring to other staff.

Communicate information and ideas clearly and concisely, orally, and understand

information presented orally.

Communicate information and ideas clearly and concisely in writing, and read and

understand information presented in writing.

Help customers identify better ways to utilize a system's capabilities.

Special considerations:

Direct experience employed as a programmer developing and maintaining computer

software applications and programs using Java-based, Web-based languages, tools and

technologies, including: Java, Spring, Struts, Hibernate, HTML, JPA, Javascript, JQuery, Java IDEs and related JAVA sets.

Direct participation as a principle web developer on projects building or maintaining

mission-critical applications for medium- to large-sized private or public organizations (i.e

1,000 or more employees).

Experience with CSS, Web Services, Informix databases, SQL databases, and other

relational databases, Business Intelligence tools and applications, and development for

mobile devices, and/or other emerging technologies.

Training and experience with development methods and approaches to application

security.

Direct experience as a web developer on systems operational within the criminal justice

field (e.g., courts, public safety, local law enforcement, corrections, parole boards,

Criminal Justice Commissions, etc.)

Academic qualifications in the computer science field.
