Job Description
We are looking for a full stack software engineer to work as part of our Anti-Fraud Analytics team. Verisk is the industry leader in providing the insurance industry with data, analytics and alerts to help combat fraud and keep all our premiums in check. You will work on the Claim Search product. It's the world’s largest database of property/casualty claims and a robust claims intelligence platform. Its claims-matching technology is an essential first step in fraud detection, and the results can help facilitate fast-tracking. The platform also provides seamless access to integrated claims fraud-detection and investigative analysis tools.
You will be responsible for designing and developing new components of the Claim Search product as well as enhancing existing features. You will develop for our fully cloud environment across very large data sets and gain experience on a diverse set of technology tools with exposure to backend data processing, large entity resolution algorithms, data matching, search, APIs, integrations and front-end development. Our headquarters are in Jersey City, New Jersey, but the Anti-Fraud Analytics team is spread across several states and even other countries.
About the Day to Day Responsibilities of the Role
Design and build high performance, scalable and reliable component-based applications using latest technologies such as AWS, Docker, Elasticsearch etc.
Design clear and concise REST service interfaces with corresponding documentation
Work directly with engineering teams, product owners, QA and UX
Write unit tests in a TDD (Test Driven Design) manner to ensure code quality
Write integration tests based on defined acceptance criteria and in conjunction with QA
Develop new applications as well as enhance and support existing applications
Ensure that secure coding practices are followed throughout the software life cycle
Learn from senior team members regarding proper application design and security
Participate in planning meetings, retrospectives, daily stand ups, and other meetings as part of the software development process
Experiment with new technologies and provide recommendations for product improvement
