Automation Engineer

Omaha, NE(onsite)

6+ Months Contract

Responsibilities:

Develop and implement company standards and policies for control-related hardware and software packages.

Create programming standards, including tag naming, alarming, safety shutdown, engine sequencing, control algorithms, and acceptance testing methods.

Design a modular programming philosophy for PLC and HMI applications.

Manage machine health and compliance reporting data to ensure reliability and integrity of reciprocal and turbine engines.

Provide technical expertise to engineering and construction teams for control system design, installation, and operation on new projects.

Collaborate with third-party integrators on HMI, automation, life safety, program logic, and cyber security projects to ensure compliance with standards.

Develop and commission PLC and HMI applications for smaller projects.

Establish a migration plan for legacy control systems and recommend replacement priorities.

Analyze existing equipment and make recommendations to improve reliability and efficiency.

Offer advanced technical guidance on the installation, evaluation, and maintenance of software applications.

Coordinate with management and field personnel to ensure project uniformity and excellent customer service.

Requirements:

Bachelor s degree in mechanical, electrical, civil, or chemical engineering.

3+ years of progressive work experience in a related field, preferably in pipeline activity.

Expertise in multiple industrial control system software platforms (Rockwell Automation, CTI 2500, FTSolutions, Workshop OPTO 22, OSI PI).

Knowledge of computer and control system networks, including industrial protocols and database management.

Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and adapt to shifting priorities.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, especially in complex or stressful situations.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with teams and management.

Willingness to be on 24/7 call and work in geographically dispersed teams.

Commitment to continuous technical training and personal initiative.
