Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled associate with 8 to 12 years of experience on MS SQL DBA
Roles & Responsibilities :
1. Database Backup and Restore:
o Perform full, differential, and transaction log backups of SQL Server 2012 databases.
o Ensure compliance with backup retention policies and storage requirements.
o Restore databases in test environments to validate backup integrity.
2. SQL Server Installation and Configuration:
o Install and configure SQL Server 2019 instances, ensuring optimal performance settings.
o Configure SQL Server instances, including collation, memory allocation, and disk I/O settings.
3. Data and Schema Migration:
o Use data migration tools (e.g., Data Migration Assistant, SSIS) to transfer data from SQL Server 2012 to SQL Server 2019.
o Generate and apply schema scripts, resolving compatibility issues and handling data type changes.
o Utilize SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT) for schema comparison and deployment.
4. Application Compatibility and Performance Tuning:
o Identify and resolve application dependencies on SQL Server features.
o Perform application testing and validation in the new SQL Server environment.
o Optimize performance by identifying and resolving bottlenecks, using tools such as Query Store and Index Tuning Wizard.
5. Validation and Testing:
o Conduct validation checks to ensure data integrity and consistency post-migration.
o Perform comprehensive testing, including unit, integration, and performance tests.
6. Security Configuration:
o Configure security settings, including logins, users, roles, and permissions in SQL Server 2019.
o Implement encryption and auditing features to enhance security.
7. High Availability and Disaster Recovery:
o Configure and manage high availability solutions (e.g., Always On Availability Groups, Failover Cluster Instances).
o Develop and execute disaster recovery plans, performing regular DR drills.
8. Monitoring and Maintenance:
o Utilize SQL Server monitoring tools (e.g., SSMS, Performance Monitor) for ongoing maintenance.
