POSITION TITLE: ENTERPRISE MESSAGING SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Under administrative direction, this is specialized information systems work supporting the architecture and management of the messaging operating infrastructure and platforms using servers, desktop computers and mobile devices within the Broward Sheriff's Office. Position is r esponsible for managing recipients, mailboxes, transport, mail flow, administrative roles, threat protection, compliance, migrations, interfaces, and client connectivity. Position performs directory integration to ensure user functionality of the related systems. Work involves building, configuring, and troubleshooting messaging system enhancements, application deployments and infrastructure up-grades. Position provides hands-on system administrative support, system maintenance and operations support. Perform related work as directed.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

Supports all messaging platforms running in the cloud and on-premise messaging systems, including Microsoft Exchange in an enterprise hybrid environment, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft 365, Active Directory administration, messaging archivers, and text message capture. Knowledge and hands-on experience with Windows Server administration, Microsoft SCCM are highly desirable.

Architects, designs, deploys, installs, configures, modifies, administers, maintains, monitors, sets alerts, optimizes, upgrades, updates, patches, virtualizes, secures, protects, migrates, interfaces, tests, documents, troubleshoots and remedies, cloud-based, on-premises, and mobile messaging systems, and platforms necessary to support the daily and strategic operations of the agency.

Vendor administration of the various messaging system vendors. Ensure monthly communication meetings are held to keep up to date on the vendor's "Roadmap , perform quarterly system health checks on all messaging systems, maintain all messaging systems on current and supported versions, ensure all system are on vendor annual maintenance and support.

Demonstrated ability to author, review, revise, and update technical documentation related to messaging systems. This includes reviewing contracts, writing technical statements of work, and creating policies and procedures.

Provides troubleshooting, root cause analysis and resolution for Level 2 and 3 requests for messaging systems.

Respond and fulfill requests for public records contained in BSO messaging systems.

Mentor and coach other ITD team members as needed.

Provides reports to ITD management as requested.

Collaborate with ITD Project Management Office on messaging system projects and initiatives.

Stays current with the latest threats, attacks, and vulnerabilities to messaging systems and platforms. Collaborates with ITD Cybersecurity team to ensure messaging systems meet ITD Cybersecurity requirements.

Ensure that messaging systems are kept patched in a timely manner on a consistent basis.

Ensures that all BSO messaging platforms and systems maintain compliance with Federal, State, and local laws, FBI and FDLE CJIS guidelines, CALEA certification, and industry best practices.

Excellent communication, facilitation, organization, planning, and follow through skills.

Monitors and reports on progress and benefits of implemented technologies.

Ability to work "On-call for messaging related issues after normal business hours.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; supplemented by a minimum of four (4) years progressively responsible experience with systems and security administration of Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Active Directory in an enterprise environment. Experience working in and supporting public safety organizations is preferred . Knowledge and hands-on experience with Microsoft SCCM, and Windows server administration is also highly desired.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Maintain CJIS certification Level 4 or higher or the ability to obtain and maintain the certification within 10 business days of employment is required.

Possession and maintenance of a valid Florida driver's license throughout employment without restrictions that may affect job performance.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation. Work is performed in usual office conditions with rare exposure to disagreeable environmental factors.
