Job Summary
The IT Operations Team is seeking an IT Systems Administrator/Engineer with a focus on Business Applications. This role focuses on deploying, administering, optimizing, and supporting a diverse portfolio of enterprise applications, custom applications (IIS & SQL), and business process automation tools. The ideal candidate will have broad expertise across the full technology stack, enabling them to troubleshoot, patch, and optimize in collaboration with our Infrastructure and Security teams. They will also support platform integrations utilizing APIs and webhooks to connect enterprise applications, ITSM platforms, and business process automation workflows.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Enterprise Application Management: Deploy, administer, and maintain critical enterprise applications to ensure reliable user access and optimal performance.
Custom Application Deployment & Support: Collaborate with Development, GIS, and Infrastructure teams to deploy custom applications hosted on IIS with SQL Server backends. Ensure smooth integration and production readiness.
Troubleshooting and Optimization: Collaborate with Infrastructure and Security teams to diagnose and resolve technical issues across the application stack. Strong knowledge of network, server, and virtualization fundamentals is essential for effective troubleshooting.
ITSM Platform Administration & Workflow Development: Administer and support the IT Service Management (ITSM) platform, including workflow development. Build and manage workflows that automate business processes, trigger webhooks, and interact with external systems via API calls. Examples include automatically creating ITSM tickets based on alerts from monitoring platforms (e.g., SolarWinds).
Process Automation with Power Automate: Develop and support automated workflows using Microsoft Power Automate to streamline business processes. Assist business teams in identifying automation opportunities and creating solutions to reduce manual efforts.
Security and Compliance: Partner with the Security team to enforce security standards in workflows, data exchanges, and application configurations.
Integration and Automation: Enable and support integrations across platforms using APIs, webhooks, and automation tools to enhance system interoperability.
Technical Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact for application vendor support, managing upgrades, vulnerability remediation, and day-to-day support.
Documentation and Training: Develop process documentation, workflows, knowledge articles, and self-service guides to empower users and streamline operations.
Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance application performance, streamline administration, and reduce manual efforts in collaboration with relevant teams.
Project Support: Assist in the design, testing, and deployment of new applications and technologies, ensuring smooth rollouts and adherence to best practices.
Qualifications
Experience: 7+ years in IT operations with a focus on application, network, or systems administration, and 4+ years managing complex, multi-tiered enterprise applications.
Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of networking (DNS, NAT, firewall policies, web application firewalls), server administration, and virtualization (VMware, Azure).
Application Proficiency: Experience with platforms like ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise, Client Kingdom, Client EDM, Tibco Spotfire, Schlumberger Petrel and Studio, Halo ITSM, SolarWinds, Office 365 Power Platform, SharePoint Online, and custom .NET web applications with SQL backends.
Database Administration: Proficient in Microsoft SQL Server administration (installation, configuration, security, performance tuning).
Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities, communication skills, and a collaborative mindset.
Additional Information
This role requires adaptability and a proactive approach, ensuring efficient and resilient IT operations.
The Business Application Specialist will also serve as a backup for other IT Operations staff to maintain continuity of support.
