Overview:
As a Project Manager, you will work under limited supervision to implement short- and long-range public transportation technology projects within budget constraints.  This includes evaluating and managing project budgets and consultant contracts.  You will manage project objectives and priorities and oversee quality control throughout each project's life cycle.  You will actively work to promote a project culture where escalations to resolve "stagnant" problems are viewed as good business and not viewed as being personal.  You will play a key role in preventing scope creep and managing communications and project quality.

Essential Duties:
Plan, monitor, and maintain project documentation, including (but not limited to) schedule, project charter, communication plans, risk register, budget status, and project status reports. 

Manage transportation technology projects, aligning with goals and supporting program strategies, project timelines, and budget. Advise the supervisor on approaches to project implementation.

Coordinate stakeholder communications, project contracts, and project meetings.  Provide administrative support to consultants and offer guidance and input on their work.  Prepare and recommend functional and technical information for decision-makers.  Manage integration of new technologies with existing systems both inside and outside the agency.

Communicate project status upward and to the client, providing frequent updates to all stakeholders on projects, programs, or steering committees.

Documents essential elements of the project to memorialize key milestones and decisions.

Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.

Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications

 

Project Manager II (Pay Range $93,222 to $130,509)

Four or more years of professional experience in project management or a related field, including:

Managing the implementation of technology projects.

Organizing, presenting, facilitating, and negotiating with diverse stakeholders and user groups.

Quality assurance and coordinating with staff and contractors engaged in program development, procurement, and implementation of equipment and systems.

Managing complex projects from planning phase through implementation including contract administration and oversight.

A Bachelor's degree in project management, information technology, or a closely related field will substitute for 2 years of experience.

An Associate degree in the same field(s) will substitute for 1 year of experience

 

Project Manager III (Pay Range $100,494 to $140,690)

Six or more years of professional experience in IT project management or a related field, including:

Managing the implementation of technology projects.

Organizing, presenting, facilitating, and negotiating with diverse stakeholders and user groups.

Quality assurance and coordinating with staff and contractors engaged in program development, procurement, and implementation of equipment and systems.

Managing complex projects from planning phase through implementation, including contract administration and oversight.

A Bachelor's degree in project management, information technology, or a closely related field will substitute for 2 years of experience.

An Associate degree in the same field(s) will substitute for 1 year of experience

 

An equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the job duties is also accepted.

 

Knowledge Requirements

Project management techniques, encompassing all phases of a project life cycle, including risk identification, scope, schedule, communication plans, and budget.

Vendor management, including contract development and review, performance management, and financial oversight.

Technology concepts and information technology teams.

Working knowledge of a variety of standard office applications/software.

Preferred Skills and Knowledge

Project Management Certification.

Transit industry or public sector experience.

Knowledge of transit business and policies related to passenger information systems and customer service practices.

Familiarity with public agency policies and procedures.

Working Conditions

 

Hybrid telework may be available.  Availability is at management discretion and may not be available for this position based on the nature of the work.  Work is performed in an office environment and requires the use of office equipment and technology.  You may also be required to lift and carry materials up to 20 pounds occasionally, and up to 10 pounds frequently.  While performing fieldwork, you may also be exposed to automotive fumes, odors, and dust, and may need to complete tasks in noisy environments and varying weather conditions.
