Network Engineer

A prominent business and litigation law firm with offices in the Carolinas. This full-time hybrid position, located in our Charlotte, NC office, with our Information Technology team will be responsible for designing, implementing, troubleshooting, and maintaining our network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and security. This role will also provide support as needed to Applications Group and End-User; and keep up with the latest technologies, troubleshooting methods and products . T he ideal candidate has 4- 7 years professional experience.

This is a direct hire position with a salary between $85,000 - $110,000 based on experience with excellent benefits in the Charlotte NC metro area, this is a hybrid role (3 days onsite) The client has 2 offices that you will support uptown Charlotte NC and Huntersville NC

Responsibilities:

Design, deploy, and maintain complex routing and switching configurations to support our organization's network infrastructure.

Configure, monitor and troubleshoot firewall systems to protect our network from unauthorized access, malware, and other security threats.

Implement and manage VPN solutions for secure remote access and site-to-site connectivity.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement network solutions that align with business requirements and industry best practices.

Conduct network capacity planning and optimization to meet current and future business needs.

Develop and maintain documentation, including network diagrams, configuration files, and standard operating procedures.

Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously enhance our network infrastructure.

Monitor system statistics, including disk space, memory parameters, and other factors affecting system performance.

Document and address system processes that could lead to performance issues or downtime events.

Stay informed about new software versions and emerging technologies related to server and network systems.

Maintain vigilance for security breaches and violations of the firm's computer usage policy.

Perform periodic checks on important queues such as email.

Provide support for on-premises and cloud-based servers, including VMware, Microsoft Azure, and Private Cloud environments.

Track vendor performance on repairs, maintenance, and other services.

Meet regularly with the supervisor to discuss project status and requests.

Provide after-hours, vacation, and weekend support as needed.

Maintain regular and in-person attendance as required.

Required Skills :

High school diploma or the equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred, with 4+ years of experience in enterprise level networking and security administration, monitoring and/or troubleshooting.

Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Network Engineer, with a focus on routing, switching, and firewall technologies.

Experience with network monitoring and management tools (e.g., NetMon, ThousandEyes, PRTG, ControlUp, Wireshark)

This position will spend 40% of their time working on routing, switching and firewall, and the other 60% on other technologies such as Exchange Online, Office 365, Azure, Microsoft Windows Server 2019/2022, and VMware.

An industry-level certification related to routing and switching technology is preferred.

Proficiency in routing protocols, switching technologies, and in configuring and troubleshooting firewall platforms such as Cisco ASA, Palo Alto, or Fortinet.

Experience with Microsoft Windows Server OS, server hardware, Office 365, Azure and Vmware experience is a plus.
