Reinsurance Operations Analyst (Commercial P&C)

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Reinsurance Operations Analyst will work closely with the Director of Reinsurance on the process of cash recoveries and reinsurance billing. This role will provide critical support to the reinsurance reconciliation and ensuring all monies are accounted for, and will work with the actuarial, claims and finance teams on a regular basis.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES :
Work in conjunction with the Director of Reinsurance in processing reinsurance notices and billing.
Process the application of cash recoveries on reinsurance bills, evaluating, identifying potential errors or inconsistencies and present solutions.
Assist in ceded reinsurance reconciliations, including reviewing and identifying inconsistencies and providing solutions for improved outcomes.
Proactively develop and manage reinsurance recoverable aging reports.
Responsible for monitoring, tracking and applying cash for reinsurance transactions through financial software and ensuring all monies are accounted for.
Utilize software, data analysis tools, and relevant technologies to streamline processes and enhance accuracy.
Identify, investigate, and provide solutions to resolve issues which may affect Company financial results.
Communicate, resolve questions and provide guidance to reinsurers regarding reinsurance accounting on reinsurance bookings.
Collaborate with all levels of the organization, Actuarial, Claims, Finance, and Enterprise Risk Management team.
Proof documents and calculations supporting data quality requirements.
Review and interpret contracts relative to reinsurance calculations. Guide reinsurance
Supporting other (re)insurance operations activities and reports as needed.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, proven to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Detail-oriented
Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and projects simultaneously
Demonstrates and fosters a sense of urgency, strong commitment, and accountability
Able to challenge appropriately, supporting business cases with facts and information
Strong ability to quickly assess and offer effective solutions to problems efficiently
Self-directed with the ability to make sound judgements independently while knowing when to bring situations to the attention of Management
Familiarity with reinsurance concepts, processes, and terminology, desirable
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / CERTIFICATION:
Bachelor's degree, preferably in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or comparable field
1 3 years' experience in insurance claim processing, billing, or receivable
Strong computer skills with demonstrated high accuracy output
Advanced Excel skills (Pivot tables) including database management expertise and large data sets
