General Summary:

In collaboration with Sound Transit, Scrum Master will lead process and data improvement initiatives across seven key project management areas over a 5-month period. This role is pivotal in ensuring the successful execution of these improvements through agile methodologies. The Scrum Master will work onsite with a small, focused agile team in a dedicated scrum room to drive continuous improvement and efficiency in project management practices.

Essential Functions:

The following duties are a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.

Lead daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives to ensure the team stays focused and productive.

Mentor and support the agile team in understanding and implementing Scrum principles and practices, ensuring adherence to agile best practices.

Collaborate with the team to identify, document, and implement improvements in the identified epics and user stories.

Act as a buffer between the team and any distractions, removing obstacles that could hinder progress and ensuring the team remains focused on its goals

Serve as the primary point of contact for communication between the agile team and external stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment on project goals and progress.

Track the progress of process improvements, ensuring that deliverables are met within the agreed timelines and that the team remains on track.

Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging the team to reflect on past successes and challenges and apply learnings to future sprints.

Utilizes change management principles when supporting, leading, or implementing projects or work packages.

Champions and models Sound Transit's core values and demonstrates values-based behaviors in everyday interactions across the agency.

Special / Additional Qualifications (Over Role/ Category Level)

Education & Experience: 3 5 years experience

Required Licenses or Certifications: Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or similar Agile certifications.

Specific Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills:

" Deep understanding of Scrum, agile methodologies, and their application to process improvement. " Experience in leading process improvement initiatives. " Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide and motivate an agile team, facilitate productive meetings, and manage conflicts. " Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and address challenges that may impede the team's progress. " Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications (Excel, SharePoint, Teams, etc). " Proficiency with Jira and Confluence tools. " Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels. " Attention to detail and follow-through on small and large tasks. " Strong relationship management and interpersonal skills, especially working with a variety of people. " Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other agency staff, management, vendors, and outside agencies. " Ability to work effectively under pressure, meet deadlines, and adjust to changing priorities. " Willingness and ability to learn new skills, tools, and technologies quickly and be able to use in the role effectively. " Willingness and ability to work onsite in a dedicated scrum room, collaborating closely with the team in person. Preferred Knowledge and Skills: " Experience with transit related project management.
