We are seeking an experienced Mainframe COBOL/Assembler Developer to join our dynamic IT team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mainframe technologies, specifically COBOL and Assembler programming, and experience with IBM tools. You will be responsible for designing, coding, testing, and maintaining mainframe applications, ensuring high performance and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, Develop, and Maintain: Write and maintain efficient COBOL and Assembler code for mainframe applications, ensuring adherence to best practices and standards.

Debugging and Troubleshooting: Analyze, debug, and resolve technical issues related to COBOL/Assembler programs on mainframes.

Testing: Develop and execute unit tests to validate the functionality of the programs. Participate in system integration testing as needed.

Performance Tuning: Optimize existing code and systems to improve performance, leveraging IBM tools for profiling and analysis.

Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including program specifications, flowcharts, and manuals.

Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, project managers, and QA teams, to deliver high-quality solutions.

Maintenance: Provide ongoing support for existing applications, including troubleshooting and implementing enhancements.

Qualifications:

Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in mainframe development, with a strong focus on COBOL and Assembler.

Technical Skills:

Proficient in COBOL, Assembler, JCL, and other mainframe languages.

Experience with IBM mainframe tools such as IBM Debug Tool, File Manager, and Rational Developer for System z (RDz).

Knowledge of CICS, DB2, and VSAM.

Familiarity with source code management tools like Endevor or Changeman.

Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues in a mainframe environment.

Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Agile methodologies.

Familiarity with modern mainframe technologies and approaches, including DevOps for mainframes.

Certification in IBM Mainframe technologies.
