This role is onsite 4-5 days a week.

As the Network Engineer, you will be part of a team responsible for effective architecture/design, procurement, provisioning, deployment, configuration, operation, maintenance and capacity planning of network hardware and software and related systems. You will also participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the network infrastructure and be an escalation point for Help Desk personnel fielding incident requests and providing resolution and root cause analysis.

Responsibilities

Design, develop and recommend technical solutions that will optimize the current network, increase redundancy, and add flexibility to the existing infrastructure.

Design, implement, and manage network infrastructure using established routing and switching technologies.

Configure and maintain Aruba wireless networks and ClearPass Network Access Control (NAC) solutions.

Deploy and troubleshoot Fortinet security appliances and ensure network security compliance.

Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations.

Collaborate with IT teams to integrate network solutions with existing IT infrastructure.

Provide technical support and guidance for network-related issues to IT staff and end-users.

Document network configurations and changes and maintain network diagrams and records.

Install, configure and manage network infrastructure devices (switches, routers, voice gateways, firewalls, wireless controllers and AP's, SSL VPN, AWS and Azure networks, etc).

Analyze business requirements, design new environments, and communicate with the IT Department and Business Units.

Implement Advanced routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP and apply design concepts in a multi-vendor environment.

Respond, troubleshoot, identify root cause and remediate issues in a complete, documented and timely manner.

Troubleshoot network software and hardware, perform system repair and preventive maintenance, including QOS, MPLS Network, and Private line circuits.

Resolve complex networking issues utilizing protocol analysis tools, including SolarWinds, Netscout (Fluke), Sniffer or Wireshark.

Work to harden, enhance, document, processes and generally improve the operability and supportability of our systems encompassing monitoring, logging and security practices.

Produce quality documentation through the design, deployment and operation phases.

Provide Tier III support per request from various team and department members.

Contribute to and maintain system standards.

Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all network systems and services.

Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.

Maintain data center and data closet environments and monitoring equipment.

Qualifications

B.S. in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent proven professional experience or certifications (e.g. CCNP, CCDP)

Minimum of 7 years of experience in network engineering with a focus on Cisco, Aruba, Fortinet, and ClearPass technologies

Professional experience working with Enterprise Networking technologies

Strong understanding of network protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) and IP subnetting.

Experience with network security practices, VPNs, and remote access solutions.

Ability to troubleshoot complex network issues in a timely and effective manner.

Proven experience working with VoIP, BGP, EIGRP, TACACS, DNS, DHCP, services.

Experience or familiarity in the following environments will be a strong plus:

Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy and Security Administration

Windows Server, SQL, Exchange and SharePoint

Citrix Cloud, XenApp and XenDesktop services

Data Center virtualization technologies

Hyperconverged Infrastructure, Windows Server/Active Directory and Linux

Strong routing and switching skills with experience working on Cloud, Datacenter and Corporate network environments. Solid understanding of the TCP/IP stack is required (SSL/TLS, DNS, DHCP, WINS, NTP, FTP, HTTP, SMTP, CIFS, LDAP, HSRP, VRRP, 802.1x, etc.)

Implement and maintain existing LAN / WAN (VTP, VLANs, physical cabling), remote VPN software, network control protocols (QOS, PoE, NTP, DHCP), network management protocols (CDP, FTP, TFTP, SNMP), and security protocols (SSH, HTTPS, AAA)

In-depth understanding of routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF

Experience with cloud networking and services (AWS, Azure, GCP)

Hands-on ability in implementing, administering, and troubleshooting network infrastructure devices, including Firewalls, Routers, Switches, Wireless, Network Access Controls (NAC), networking components, and network monitoring tools

Experience with network and security tools like Solarwinds, NetScout (Fluke), Client, SIEM tools, IDS/IPS, firewall hardening

A background in Cisco (IOS, IOSXE, NXOS), Fortinet, and Aruba products

Proficient in private and public WAN technologies (MPLS, VPLS, DIA, VPN)

Knowledge of Load Balancers

Experience working with vendors and third-party contractor companies as part of the team

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

Excellent project management, documentation, collaboration and communication skills

Organizational and mentoring skills

Must be flexible, self-organizing, independent, and ready to self-study emerging issues

Must be able to respond to system outages during off-hours
