Data Scientist -AI / ML, Senior-Level

Overview :
We are seeking a highly skilled AI / ML Data Scientist (Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning) to join our client’s team. The ideal candidate is excited about AI and ML and how they relate to real world challenges.

 

This direct-hire role is located in Woodlawn, MD, and requires onsite presence 2 days per week. Candidates must live within 2 hours of the client-site.  Per our client contract, candidates must be US Citizens or Green Card Holders, eligible to obtain a Public Trust clearance. The candidate must be willing to wait for the 4-to-6-week clearance process. 

Responsibilities :
Stay current with new methods in NLP, ML, and Generative AI.

Address real-world challenges by creating automated data solutions.

Develop, test, and deploy techniques for NLP understanding.

Build and scale ML and Generative AI models, like Large Language Models (LLMs).

Train and optimize NLP/LLM models, creating Python-based pipelines.

Assess analytic problems, explore solutions, and recommend resolutions.

Advise on methods and data needed to solve intelligence or data problems.

Work with data collectors and analysts to identify and address gaps in complex monitoring.

Deliver accurate, timely, and advanced data analysis.

Qualifications :
Experience with NLP, Generative AI, and Large Language Models (LLMs).

Proficient in Python programming, Git for version control, standard libraries (Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib), and ML frameworks.

Familiar with TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, NLTK, Azure ML (optional), and AWS EC2.

Experience with scalable data engineering frameworks like Apache Spark, orchestration tools like Airflow, and semantic search.

Expertise in data analysis, applying statistical methods, and building, training, and evaluating supervised/unsupervised ML models.

Experience in ML model deployment and operations (DevOps, MLOps, LLMOps).

Familiar with NLP/Generative AI libraries (e.g., SpaCy, LangChain), regular expressions, and text annotation tools.

Skilled in statistical/ML tools like Pandas and scikit-learn.

Experience in the clinical domain and processing large real-world datasets.

Proficient in data retrieval from Db2, Oracle, SQL Server, Hadoop, and flat files.

Experience with database systems like MySQL, SQLite, and SQL.

Ability to learn or experience with distributed processing via Hadoop (Spark, Impala, Hive).

Strong analytical skills for identifying risks and proposing solutions.

Clear communication of complex technical ideas to different stakeholders.

Collaborative in cross-functional teams.

Excellent problem-solving and communication skills for various audiences, including leadership.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in federal or state IT projects.

Experience with clinical applications.

Familiarity with research environments.

Experience with parallel processing (GPU programming with CUDA).

Knowledge of markup languages (LaTeX, HTML).

Natural Language Processing for anomaly detection.

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary range of $165K-$185K, based on experience, qualifications, location, and certifications.  The salary pay range is subject to change and may be modified at any time.
