We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Principal Network Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a Principal Network Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining complex network infrastructures to ensure optimal performance, security, and reliability. Additionally, you will play a pivotal role in driving network automation initiatives using Ansible and AWX Tower, streamlining network operations and enhancing efficiency.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Network Design and Implementation:

Lead the design and deployment of scalable, high-performance network architectures, including LAN, WAN, and data center environments.

Evaluate and select network hardware, software, and technologies that align with business objectives and growth strategies.

Implement best practices for network segmentation, traffic engineering, and Quality of Service (QoS) to optimize network performance.

Network Automation:

Utilize Ansible and AWX Tower to automate network configuration, provisioning, and management tasks.

Develop custom Ansible playbooks and automation scripts to streamline repetitive network processes and eliminate manual interventions.

Integrate network automation into the CI/CD pipeline, promoting continuous integration and deployment.

Network Security:

Implement and maintain network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, access control lists (ACLs), and intrusion detection/prevention systems.

Ensure compliance with industry security standards and best practices, safeguarding sensitive data and protecting against potential threats.

Network Monitoring and Troubleshooting:

Oversee network monitoring tools to proactively identify and address performance issues and network outages.

Conduct root cause analysis for complex network problems and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.

Continual enhancement of network monitoring, integration into our ticketing systems.

Documentation and Knowledge Sharing:

Create and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including network diagrams, architecture, configurations, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Mentor and collaborate with team members, sharing knowledge on network technologies, automation techniques, and industry trends.

Project Management:

Plan and execute network-related projects, adhering to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

Work in coordination with IT project management to ensure seamless project delivery and successful implementation.

Continuous Learning:

Stay abreast of the latest advancements in networking technologies, automation, and industry trends, applying new knowledge to improve network infrastructure and practices.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, MIS, or related field experience.

Proven experience as a Senior Network Engineer with a focus on network design, implementation, and management.

Strong expertise in network automation using Python, Ansible and AWX Tower.

Industry certifications such as Cisco CNNP, CCIE and/or Juniper JNCIE, JNCIP, JNCIS are highly desirable.

Minimum three (3) years’ experience with telecommunications systems including VoIP telephony

Experience working with network systems, networking principles, data, voice or video

Experience working with network software and hardware, data, voice or video

In-depth knowledge of routing and switching protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF, EIGRP), network security, and virtualization technologies.

Proficiency in scripting languages, particularly Python and Bash, is advantageous.

Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting complex network issues and conducting network performance analysis.

Excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.

Proven project management experience in application development and system design with large scale business applications

Demonstrated experience managing enterprise software implementation projects (both packaged software, third-party, and custom-development projects)

Strong working knowledge of wide area monitoring and capacity planning

Ability to convey a strong presence, professional image and deal confidently with complex technical problems
