Role Overview:
PIC North America, a Genus Company, has an exciting opportunity. We are looking for a highly motivated IT Applications Developer to join our team and enhance our industry-leading genetic evaluation systems. This position will be responsible for trouble-shooting issues that arise within our custom-developed software, known as PICTraq. The successful candidate has the ability to work in a culturally diverse, fast-paced environment, work autonomously as well as collaboratively across functional teams, and is able to quickly learn and implement new technologies, frameworks, and tools and interface with internal and external resources. You are a strong communicator and collaborator and can easily translate user requests into technical requirements.

 

The preferred location for the position is Hendersonville, TN. For the right individual hybrid or a remote working arrangement with travel may be considered.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Work with the Data Software Support Team; who is responsible for triaging tickets as they come in through the JIRA ticketing system. You will be involved in helping to guide them in finding the most efficient way to handle requests of varying difficulties, ensuring end-user requests/issues are resolved within established service level agreements or communicated timelines.

Act as the third-tier support in fixing software/data bugs utilizing past knowledge of Python, PHP, Perl, and database procedures.

Architect and implement enhancements to PICTraq to facilitate and enable FDA Part 11 compliance.

Collaborate with the Production Support Manager to identify opportunities to automate or streamline current manual processes.

Collaborate with business and technical partners to identify and scope opportunities, risks, benefits, constraints, and priorities.

Work with Software Development Lead to help design and architect new features and upgrades to PICTraq.

Read/debug existing PL/SQL, Python, Perl, and PHP to propose and implement quick solutions to reported issues with little oversight.

Configure and deploy changes in Apache Web Server on Rocky Linux.

Aid in Linux administration tasks as needed.

Requirements:
Basic Qualifications: (required)

A minimum of 10 years of experience managing and mentoring teams focused on end-user support.

A minimum of 10 years of experience in Linux, Python, PHP, and database procedures with proven ability to quickly diagnose/troubleshoot complex issues.

A minimum of 5 years of experience with SQL including Enterprise-level database tools, such as partitioning and materialized views.

A minimum of 10 years of experience with Agile Software Development and ability to lead sprint planning meetings, daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospective meetings. 

 

Preferred Qualifications:  An application developer with experience in these areas.

A University degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering

Prior experience in a 24/7 production environment.
