Systems Administrator
Position Summary:
As Systems Administrator, you will diagnose, repair, and maintain hardware and software components for an engineering office in Virginia Beach, VA. Responsibilities include installing and configuring computer hardware and being the primary point of contact for IT support.
Clearance Requirements:
Must be a US citizen with active DoD Secret security clearance.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Establish user accounts
Install and configure hardware and software components
Troubleshoot hardware and software issues
Repair or replace damaged hardware
Perform tests and evaluations on new software and hardware
Provide support to users and being the first point of contact for error reporting
Manage technical documentation
Travel to client sites
Define software, hardware, and network requirements
Upgrade systems to enable compatible software
Provide on-the-job training in the use and operation of installed software, developing additional documentation as necessary in support of specific needs
Order and keep inventory of equipment and supplies
Assist in other network/systems support as directed
Required Education, Skills and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Information Systems and Information Technology, Computer Science, or High School graduate with four years of experience as IT Technician
5+ years' experience in computer networks and systems maintenance
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to create complex equations.
Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines and to balance multiple projects and tasks concurrently.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with persons at all levels of the organization.
Preferred Certifications:
CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional, SEC+
Physical Demands & Expectations:
Up to 10% travel
Regular physical activity to include walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting (up to 75 pounds), and standing; occasional prolonged sitting
Ability to speak, read, hear and write, with or without assistance
Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax and other office equipment
