Overview:
HILGARTWILSON, a Colliers Engineering & Design affiliate, is seeking a GIS Technician with 0-2 years of experience to assist with creating maps and apps through GIS software. These maps and apps are project deliverables to internal and external clients. The technician will be expected to support office and field data collection and creation of mapping products with guidance from their manager and the GIS team.
This position supports the planning and implementing environmental and natural resources projects including activities such as site environmental, cultural, or biological surveys, preparing maps for technical reports, and assisting with field data collection. This position will work closely with a team of environmental professionals, including engineers, geologists, and GIS specialists. We are looking for an employee to work out of our Phoenix, AZ office.
This position is expected to be predominantly in the office, with limited field work which may vary based on project needs. The ideal candidates will have a Bachelor of Science degree in Geographic Information Systems or related field.
Responsibilities:
Create and manage data and maps using GIS software.
Create web maps, applications, inspection forms, dashboards and more using GIS software.
Collect location data in the field using GNSS equipment.
Understand and convert field data into GIS produced documents.
Manage care, storage, and preparation of field equipment and devices.
Complete assignments in the specific time periods requested while ensuring accuracy, completeness, quality, and thoroughness of results.
Extended period of time operating a computer in a stationary position.
On occasion, could spend full day of working in the field collecting data based on project needs.
Must be able to travel to various project sites.
Must be able to walk long distances and navigate rough terrain.
Qualifications:
0-2 years of experience using Esri GIS Software or related experience.
BS in Geographic Information Systems or related fields or certification in Geographic Information Systems in lieu of degree.
Valid drivers license.
Esri Certifications a plus
Demonstrate knowledge of geodatabase design, creation, and management.
Demonstrate knowledge of public domain GIS data is preferred.
Demonstrate knowledge of Esri ArcPro and ArcGIS Online Maps and Apps, AutoCAD/Civil 3D.
Demonstrate general computer skills, knowledge, and acumen (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite).
Self-starter and team player.
Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
