Role Summary:
The Business Intelligence Analyst I solves problems and supports workgroups by applying analytics on large and diverse datasets to predict operational performance and to craft optimal business strategies over a broad portfolio of initiatives for Alaska Airlines (AS). As an individual contributor, this role focuses on strategic projects in a fast-paced, high-exposure team whose responsibilities include data analysis, demand modeling and research, optimization, project management, and solution design/delivery.
Key Duties:
Under the direction of the manager, focuses on analytical experiments and models that blend data sources for creative insights into business problems and to align performance with the company’s strategic goals, detailed action plans, key performance indicators, and progress metrics.
Provides input into the development of systems and technology to produce decision support tools that enable leaders and system practitioners to take strategic action.
Leverages technology to enhance department performance and productivity.
Develops visualizations grounded in statistical best practices that facilitate effective communication of results and key findings to internal and external customers.
Makes recommendations on methodologies to approach business problems and contributes to the continuous improvement of stakeholder processes and data life cycle.
Researches new data sources and analytical tools to enhance the data-driven business process.
Communicates frequently with stakeholders and ITS on the integration and support of business systems.
Networks with cross-functional teams and ensures timely and accurate completion of assignments.
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills:
Required
Bachelor’s degree with a focus in mathematics, economics, operations research, finance, statistics, business, computer science, or technical/engineering, or 2 years of experience in a related area, in lieu of this degree.
Detailed knowledge and understanding of business intelligence functions, including analytics, data mining, reporting, report conversion, data cleansing, data modeling and relational databases.
Experience with relational databases, nested querying, table design, and complex joins.
Experience with applied statistics.
Data-driven mindset and a proven history of continuous self-development.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum age of 18.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred
Thorough understanding of SQL.
Adept knowledge of charting, pivot tables, and visualization.

Salary Range:
$62,250 --- $87,150 / year
Salary Details:
Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.
Note: We don’t typically hire at the top of the range.
