Job Description
The Director, Software Engineering, Developer Tools is responsible for leading cross-organization delivery and development of developer tools and cloud platforms that enable our development teams to quickly and consistently deliver applications that are reliable, secure, private, and performant. This role requires a combination of strategic initiative, people leadership, and delivery execution.
The capabilities we are building provide easy, templated solutions that create paved roads to go from account creation to code repositories to production that include, but are not limited to:
CI/CD Pipelines
API Management and Edge-based API Gateways
Automation and creation of blueprints to align with secure cloud building blocks into solutions for various cloud providers
Internal developer portal
Cloud platform onboarding and automation, including FinOps and financial tools
Additional developer productivity tools
Responsibilities
Provide leadership, mentoring, and coaching for a dynamic development team
Provide engineering teams with tools to enable consistency and have a focus on automation to aiding teams go from code repo to production by providing self-serviceable tools and services to aide with performance and availability
Drive the development of our internal developer portal
Consult, educate, and empower engineers as they build & ship innovative software.
Research, prototype, and develop solutions in support of the adoption of modern technologies and architecture.
Develop systems and processes to maximize the efficiency of our continuous integration pipeline and testing infrastructure.
Engage with engineers throughout the company to learn about pain points, and work alongside a technical lead to define and prioritize solutions.
Establish and maintain partnerships within the organization and internal customers to determine roadmap features
Drive the evaluation of new and emerging technologies, services, tools, and multiple cloud vendors to innovative new capabilities, guide business and technology decisions
