Description:
The Auditorium & Conference Center Technical Lead will support event and production spaces for an established multi-channel retailer client. This key role is responsible for:
maintaining, organizing, advising, operating, and troubleshooting all aspects of the client’s event and production spaces;
supporting the operations and personnel who oversee the technical support of the client’s production facilities and control rooms;
partnering with client engineering team to ensure proper maintenance and operational readiness for the event and production spaces on campus; and
assisting with the training and development of personnel to ensure they have the skillset and technical knowledge to effectively perform their roles.

DAY TO DAY RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical Management
Assist with the setup and configuration of all necessary control room and studio elements to ensure successful productions based on event scope.
Provide technical consultation on technical broadcast approach and design of productions.
Ensure resources are scheduled and assigned to required operator positions based on event production scope.
Support the development and documentation of best practices for all event spaces including production and technology configurations to ensure top level of production quality and consistency.
Support preventative maintenance procedures and facility plans to ensure locations remain operationally ready.
Serve as the initial escalation point of contact for all equipment troubleshooting, service and maintenance needs and coordinate with client engineering teams to facilitate repair needs to ensure operational readiness of facilities.
Ensure all discrepancies are communicated and resolved to the clients’ satisfaction and in a timely manner.
Document and provide SOP instructions for operation of studio and control room equipment in order to provide training to staff and freelancers.
Collaborate on the assessment and recommendation of solutions around technical and operational strategy of studio and event spaces based on production requirements.
Provide guidance on post-mortems of webcasts and fully analyze what went right, what went wrong, and make recommendations for future improvements.
Participate in regularly scheduled meetings with team members to ensure alignment on event procedures, scheduling, and production briefs as required.
Technical Events
Support the production design, setup, and configuration of all necessary control room elements to ensure a high-quality event for client productions.
Oversee the operational approach to fulfill the creative production needs for client events, including but not limited to:Technical directing
Audio mixing
Robotic cameras
Virtual platforms
Graphics
Video playback
Streaming
Lighting design
Teleprompter
Operation of remote acquisition equipment (or equivalent software i.e., Zoom, Hangouts, etc.) as needed for remote presenter participation in events.
Operation of streaming and encoding equipment.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Must-have skills & job qualifications
5+ years of experience in live event production, event coordination, broadcast, audio/visual and video production, or another similar field.
3+ years of experience in: onsite, virtual, and hybrid live events
database and scheduling management
Video engineering and strategic technical management experience.
Experience supporting control room equipment including video switchers, audio consoles, robotic cameras, and video playback software.Understanding of signal flow in a digital broadcast environment.
Experience in working with LAN/WAN networking and switches.
Skills in both traditional television broadcast and IT equipment installation, and troubleshooting.
Knowledge of virtual production and meeting platforms.
A keen eye for detail with a knowledge of what creatively works well for broadcast production.
Track record of being organized, detail-oriented, flexible, and working well in a team atmosphere, as well as having the capability to work well individually, is essential.
Strong work ethic, self-direction, self-motivation, patience, persistence, and perspective.
Excellent collaboration and customer relationship skills with the understanding of the importance of white glove service.
Ability to work independently and be self-reliant in strategic execution of daily responsibilities.
Ability to maintain composure and a positive attitude during high pressure situations.
Ability to communicate challenging aspects to clients while maintaining a high level of confidence and leadership.
Consistent proactive preparation and timely responses to multiple channels of communication.
Nice-to-have skills
Experience with various production environments and video switchers including Grass Valley and Ross Acuity.
Experience with audio production systems including Yamaha audio consoles, Dante audio routing networks, Shure microphones, and intercom systems.
Experience with Telemetrics, Sony, Panasonic and Black Magic robotic cameras.
Experience with Adder KVM systems.
Experience with Haivision encoding and decoding systems.
Familiarity with post-production software including Adobe Premiere and Final Cut Pro.
College degree in video production, broadcasting, communications, or similar field.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
Travel is required based on requirements and location of productions and service needs including meetings at client offices and AVI-SPL offices.
Ability to lift/carry 50lbs.
Ability to climb ladders and perform overhead work.
