Travel required for Epic training to Epic HQ in Verona, WI.  Other travel may be required within region position is located in.

 

Remote Work option -  This person will work their first 90 days in the office.  If there is completion of successful 90 day evaluation, this person will have the opportunity to work 8 days per month in the office and the rest from home.

 

Focus will be for Revenue Cycle

 

Salary range for this position is $79,019-$92.976; Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity.

 

POSITION SUMMARY: The Business Intelligence (BI) Developer I is responsible for building business intelligence applications and data visualization tools, creating innovative analysis and interpretation, employing sophisticated data modeling techniques, and presenting recommendations to management. The BI Developer I helps OSF HealthCare improve its healthcare delivery system by designing business intelligence applications and using problem solving techniques to transform data, analyze the results, synthesize solutions, and support decision-making. This role translates data into actionable information that assists leadership with decision making for operational and strategic areas including improved clinical outcomes, financial performance, productivity improvement, cost optimization, staffing, population health management, strategic market analysis, investment analysis, space or supply utilization, and system integration. Works with leadership throughout the organization to analyze operational and strategic performance to identify gaps, establish targets and devise the most efficient and effective methods for measuring and displaying performance, including training for business intelligence and analytic tools.

 

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITY:
Develops analytical applications, dashboards, web applications, and other data visualization tools that provide timely data and information to leadership based on key performance data from clinical, strategic, financial, and operational systems.
Provides timely, innovative analyses and interpretation to leaders throughout the ministry.
Supports quality improvement efforts and strategic initiatives designed to improve patient outcomes, patient satisfaction, and the utilization of human, capital, and physical resources.
Provides timely, accurate, comprehensive data mining and analyses related to operational performance, population health management, clinical practice models, cost improvement and quality indicators.
Audits and validates data against other sources and communicates data deficiencies.  Offers solutions to improve data integrity as needed.
Understands how data flows from the various applications to their corresponding data models.  This includes practical understanding of the workflows that produce the data and the implications of any variances from the model or standard workflow.
Maintains knowledge of current trends and development in healthcare delivery, statistical analysis, business intelligence analysis and design, business and statistical software applications, clinical quality indicators and process improvement methodologies by reading appropriate journals, researching online, attending seminars, webinars, and conferences.

Qualifications:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelors Degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, analytics, business, finance, economics, or health care administration.

 

Experience: Knowledge of streamlined user interfaces and applications that graphically display complex quantitative data. Knowledge of web applications or business intelligence platforms.

 

Other Licenses/Certifications Epic Clarity/Cogito data model fundamentals training is required within 90 days of employment and required certifications must be successfully completed within 6 months from date of hire. Exams are subject to a three attempt limit per certification exam, and certifications must be maintained as new version training is released.

 

Other skills/knowledge: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience: 1 year of experience in business intelligence, analytics, operations, finance, information systems, or healthcare.

 

Other skills/knowledge: Demonstrated experience with analytical application development (SQL, Java, HTML, SAP Business Objects/Crystal, Epic Cogito toolset, Access, Power BI, Lumira, QlikView/QlikSense, Tableau, TIBCO Spotfire, MicroStrategy, mapping/GIS software, Excel (with attention to PowerPivot/PowerQuery/data model), VB Script, or similar applications) with the ability to become an expert in new information systems quickly. Able to evaluate technology in context of process & reporting needs and utilize such technology applications for creating dashboards, data visualization tools, and reports. Knowledge with database design principles, methodologies and tools, including, but not limited to, work flows, field structure, table layout, joins, etc. Must be able to manage risk and ambiguity, work effectively with operational staff, leadership, and clinicians to define scope, and be able to manage multiple and often changing priorities. Time management skills in order to deliver high-quality reports and information in a dynamic environment with critical deadlines. Strong analytical skills are required to address clinical, operational and system related problems, to gather and interpret clinical and financial data, and to prepare clear, concise management reports. Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills are required to share complex information with leaders across the ministry. Must demonstrate analytical skills necessary to analyze both quantitative and qualitative data and find practical solutions to difficult and complex problems. Independent judgment is required to prioritize tasks and projects and work without a significant amount of day to day supervision on routine or recurring analyses.
