We currently have a career opportunity for a Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Solutions Architect in our Cloud and API Practice. While our headquarters location is St. Louis, MO, this position is remote and can be based anywhere within the United States and will be working CT and ET zones.

 

 

 

Job Overview:

Candidates for the SRE Solution Architect position typically major in computer science, or a computer related field, and have 10 to 15 years of production workload management experience in a related IT field. As an SRE solution consultant you will lead a small team of DevSecOps engineers to deliver infrastructure as a managed service for a strategic Perficient account. In this role, you will identify and mitigate security vulnerabilities within compute, network, storage and database resources running in Google Cloud. You will implement process improvements in various domains including: solution platform automation, source code iteration and improvement, continuous integration, observability instrumentation, and infrastructure as code. You will help design and implement SRE related tools and processes within our client’s cloud infrastructure for both internal and external customers.

Identify and remediate security vulnerabilities identified within current state infrastructure.

Plan migration paths to future state infrastructure using GCP best practices for containerized workloads.

Provide direction to project engineers to implement SRE platform requirements

Interact and support cross-functional teams to architect, design, develop, test, and implement error budgets with instrumented event capture for observability

Architect, design, develop, implement, test, iterate and support Service Level

Indicators (SLIs), Service Level Objectives (SLOs), and Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Be precise in helping organizations determine if an SLA should be internal or public-facing, with appropriate accountability and validity.

Demonstrate knowledge in various DevOps domains (Agile, source control management, pipeline automation, IaaC, etc.)

Implement Proof-of-Concept projects to validate new SRE solutions

Build templates, workflows, and repeatable solutions for various SRE use cases as directed

Implement provided architectural solutions/designs in various SRE disciplines

Collaborate with client team members to mitigate or eliminate technical dependencies, issues, and risks

Support common vision, practices, and capabilities across teams

Engage with Technical Architects and technical staff to determine the most appropriate technical strategy and designs to meet business needs.

Be an effective communicator at all levels of the business: c-suite, directors and managers, as well as key individual contributors.

Deliver with positivity and professionalism consistently.

Lead daily stand-ups and QBR (quarterly business reviews).

We are looking for colleagues with engaging personalities, a passion for excellence in technology, a problem-solving nature, and these other qualifications:

 

An expert-level understanding of SRE, DevSecOps, and traditional systems administration domains including Source Code Management, Continuous Integration, Deployment Automation, Infrastructure as Code, Cloud architecture, observability, error budgets, etc.

Must have strong experience with DevSecOps tools like Git, Jenkins, Ansible,

Kubernetes, Terraform, ELK, Jira or other alternatives

Experience with SRE tooling (openTelemetry, APM)

Experience with code review and refactoring. Specific languages are less important than knowing how to collaborate with experts in that language to deliver an optimal refactor or feature.

Strong understanding of application release management within a complex environment is required

Strong understanding of mobile release management

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science,

Computer Engineering or a related discipline preferred

Minimum of 10 years working in a related IT field

Minimum of 2 years of scripting experience (Go, Rust, Java, C and variants, JavaScript, Python)

Versed in bash, yaml, terraform

Client facing or consulting experience highly preferred

Ability to communicate effectively via multiple channels (verbal, written, etc.) with technical and non-technical staff

Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

A drive for continual self-improvement, particularly to learn and adopt new technologies

The ability to work well on teams and in front of clients

Excellent communication skills

Strong organizational skills

Strong entrepreneurial attitude with high energy

Flexible and adaptable attitude, disciplined to manage multiple responsibilities and adjust to varied environments.

The salary range for this position takes into consideration a variety of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, level of experience, applicable office location, training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The new hire salary range displays the minimum and maximum salary targets for this position across all US locations, and the range has not been adjusted for any specific state differentials. It is not typical for a candidate to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the unique facts and circumstances regarding each candidate. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range for this position is $92,118 to $202,730. Please note that the salary range posted reflects the base salary only and does not include benefits or any potential equity or variable bonus programs.
