An average day:
As Systems Administrator II | Exchange, you will be responsible for supporting the administration and maintenance of IT infrastructures, including domestic and international data centers, for a large federal enterprise effort. This role involves working with server environments, implementing security measures, and ensuring system performance. You will collaborate with senior administrators and other IT teams to support mission-critical systems and contribute to system improvements. Additionally, in this position you will:
Support the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of operating systems and applications.
Work with virtualization technologies, such as VMware and Hyper-V, to support virtual environments.
Implement basic security measures, including system hardening and routine patching.
Assist with managing storage solutions (SAN, NAS) and backup/recovery operations.
Participate in system upgrades, migrations, and disaster recovery activities.
Maintain documentation for system configurations, procedures, and standard operating guidelines.
Troubleshoot and resolve routine system issues and respond to service requests.
Collaborate with network, security, and application teams to ensure system compatibility and integration.
Provide input on system design and enhancements, contributing to the improvement of the overall infrastructure
Install, configure, and maintain Exchange Server infrastructure including Database Availability Groups (DAGs), while ensuring optimal performance and regular updates
Manage mailbox administration including database maintenance, user mailboxes, policies, quotas, and public folders
Implement and maintain email security measures including anti-spam/malware protection, SSL certificates, encryption, and security monitoring
Configure and maintain high availability solutions including DAG replication, backup/recovery procedures, and disaster recovery planning
Manage mail flow configuration including routing, transport rules, connectors, and troubleshooting delivery issues
Configure and maintain client access services including Outlook Web Access (OWA), mobile device access, and ActiveSync policies
Implement compliance and archiving solutions including legal hold procedures, eDiscovery requests, and journaling configurations
Plan and execute Exchange migrations, updates, and hybrid deployments while managing integration with Active Directory and third-party applications
Provide advanced technical support for Exchange-related issues while maintaining system documentation and training materials for support staff
Basic Qualifications:
As a requirement of this position, all candidates must be a U.S. Citizen. In accordance with , Epsilon will not consider candidates for this position who do not meet the aforementioned conditions.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, plus 3+ years of Exchange Server administration and 2+ years of Windows Server administration experience
Desired Microsoft Exchange Server certification, plus at least one advanced certification (Microsoft 365 Messaging Administrator, MCSE Messaging, or Enterprise Administrator Expert)
Proven experience with Exchange Server core services including DAGs, mailbox management, transport services, client access, and high availability configuration
Strong knowledge of Windows Server infrastructure, Active Directory integration, DNS configuration, load balancing, and SSL certificate management
Demonstrated expertise in email security, including anti-spam/malware configuration, message encryption, compliance policies, eDiscovery, and data loss prevention
Proficiency in PowerShell scripting, Exchange troubleshooting, performance monitoring, backup/recovery, and log analysis
Experience with hybrid Exchange deployments, Office 365/Exchange Online integration, and email protocols (SMTP, IMAP, POP3)
Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with ability to manage projects and provide user support
Knowledge of mobile device management, message tracking, email archiving solutions, and third-party email tools
Other Requirements:
Must have an active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret with SCI eligibility or have an active Top Secret with SCI eligibility.
Will be subject to a federal background investigation.
