Job Description:
The Platform DevOps Engineer will understand how hardware and software components fit together and integrate with cloud-based resources. They will assist in the effort to help us modernize a DoD client's data architecture. We are seeking an engineer who is comfortable stepping outside of their comfort zone and learning new technologies to propel our command into the future. This is a 3 day on-site hybrid position in Crystal City, VA.
Job Duties Include (but not limited to):
Communication with Teammates and Development Teams.
Understanding development team requirements and project KPIs
Implementing various development, testing, automation tools, and IT infrastructure
Setting up platform and developer tools and required infrastructure.
Defining and setting development, test, release, update, and support processes for DevOps operation
Provides infrastructure and systems integration for DevOps environment.
Designs and maintains roles and playbooks in development, test, and production environments to enforce system standardization and to maintain configuration management.
Leads efforts to mitigate system obsolescence through migrations and upgrades.
Creates and maintains system-lifecycle documentation.
Qualifications:
Required Skills & Experience:
Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience. Demonstrated experience with Hashicorp Terraform, Helm, AWS CDK, AWS CloudFormation, or SaltStack.
Demonstrated GitOps experience tools such as ArgoCD or fluxCD.
K8s
Configure as Code (CaC) experience and relevant skills. Must understand K8S manifests, YAML, configmap, and generally how configuration is abstracted away from application logic.
Git – and all associated commands (merge, pull, commits, clones, etc), understanding of merge conflicts.
GitLab CI - Understanding of Gitlab CI and functions of Gitlab CI tooling, runners, and security options.
Linux expertise regardless of distro.
AWS CLI
IDE such as Visual Studio Code
Demonstrated experience with Kubernetes and supporting ecosystem including Kubectl, helm charts, namespaces, services, secrets and configmaps, helm releases, git repos, pod status.
Understanding of Nginx proxy using both standalone installations and Kubernetes Nginx ingress controllers.
Understanding of Kubernetes CNI, Cilium is a plus.
Understanding of Kubernetes CSI, EBS and EFS CSI a plus.
Demonstrated experience deploying a wide range of applications to Kubernetes.
Containerization Expertise
Managing and maintaining CI/CD Pipelines using Gitlab CI and ArgoCD.
Everything is AWS, AWS Experience, including isolated environments, is a must.
