Overview:
The Manager’s role is to plan, organize, and manage staff to ensure the stable operation of the organization’s IT infrastructure. This includes developing, maintaining, supporting and optimizing key functional areas, particularly front end (Global Client Services), PCs/laptops/scanners, user experience, SharePoint, manufacturing plant support and leadership of the service desk. The Manager will also schedule and direct activities to resolve security issues as well as hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion. This role does not directly manage servers, firewalls, storage or networks.
Responsibilities:
• Design and implement short and long-term strategic plans to ensure front-end infrastructure and plant IT
capacity meet existing and future requirements
• Manage the Service Desk including VIP Support and new user training; Prepare and deliver a Plant IT Operational Excellence Continuous Improvement Program which maximizes cross-plant effectiveness and innovation
• Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for infrastructure administration and project management
• Participate in the development of IT strategies in collaboration with the executive team
• Select front-end hardware including laptops, desktops, plant edge equipment, cameras, scan guns, etc.
• Conduct research and make recommendations on products, services, protocols, and standards in support of front-end infrastructure procurement and development efforts
• Working with the Core Infrastructure team, Application team and plant MDs/GMs, ensure plants are equipped with all needed hardware and software per business requirements
• Establish service level agreements with business units
• Define hardware and software standards in conjunction with owners and stakeholders
• Conduct feasibility studies for various upgrade projects, improvements, and other conversions
• Prepare RFPs, bid proposals, contracts, scope of work reports, and other documentation for infrastructure projects and associated efforts and negotiate with vendors and contractors for infrastructure products and services.
• Assist with the planning and deployment of infrastructure security measures
• Manage operational costs; conduct near and long-term financial forecasts for functionality/user base scenarios
• Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the organization’s executives, decision-makers, stakeholders, department heads, and end users regarding pertinent infrastructure activities
• Practice IT asset management, including maintenance of component inventory and related documentation
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Management, or related field. Experience may be considered in lieu of education
• Three to five (3-5) years of IT Management experience and ten (10) or more years of overall IT experience -
manufacturing environment strongly preferred
• Must be available for 24-hour support; Proficient written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
• Solid organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks, meet tight deadlines, and manage a broad range of responsibilities
• High degree of concentration with attention to detail, high energy, self-motivated and self-reliant
• Ability to interact well with all personality types; Strong cooperation, collaboration and team-building skills
• Effective analytical and problem-solving skills with an emphasis on continuous improvement
