Overview:
Shipyard Test Organization (D272) is seeking highly motivated candidates to lead and instruct STO-Electrical Testers in the safe conduct of Virginia Class Steam and Electric Plant systems, Weapons, and Hull, Mechanical and Auxiliary systems which may include testing on Sea Trials. The successful candidate will be skilled in the proper planning and preparation required to execute Non-Nuclear Testing in accordance with testing guidelines with the highest level of formality and procedural compliance.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Test sequence planning in accordance with Virginia Class playbook
Facilitate instruction of Electrical Testers on the deck plate
Ability to accomplish complex testing and troubleshooting of Power Conversion Modules and Power Distribution Systems
Complete Test Form daily IAW with CONOPs Test Form Prosecution and participate in Electrical Surveillance program
Conduct professional interface with variance entities as needed: Nuclear Test, USN, NAVSEA, Naval Reactors, Engineering, and Vendors
Partner with Trades and Test Supervision to coordinate interdepartmental support on the deckplate to increase workforce efficiency and ensure first time quality
Ability to achieve and maintain Qualifications in Virginia Class Steam and Electric Plant
Ability to read, interpret and teach schematic and electrical system diagram knowledge to perform Lockout/Tag-out of ship systems in accordance with shipyard standard procedures
Demonstrate proper operation of ships Electric Plant systems both on hull and in learning module setting
Operate with the highest level of integrity and formality with strict compliance on material history and handling
Flexible schedule to accommodate major milestone and key event testing as required
Qualifications:
Required:
High school diploma or GED equivalent
2+ years’ experience in STO or Electrical Test experience. 4+ years of US Navy or Military experience will be accepted in lieu of STO/Electrical Test experience.
Preferred:
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering; other Engineering disciplines will be considered
Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program Experience
Candidates must be able to read & work from electrical system diagrams and schematics
Current DOD Secret Clearance
