Overview:
BigBear.ai is seeking a Technical Lead for a Data Science Application. You will be the technical leader responsible for designing, developing, and deploying secure, maintainable, and productionizable capabilities in the form of executable functions (e.g., Lambdas, Step Functions, S3, AWS OpenSearch, etc.) across AWS cloud infrastructure that houses sensitive data and models that support mission critical operations. You will lead a development team of 5-8 in their day-to-day technical assignments and lead the technical product vision. To that end, you will work with cross-functional teams to identify relevant and permissible data sources, access available infrastructure, and to develop analytic products tailored to mission user requirements. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are critical in your ability to collaborate with your technical colleagues and building rapport with the customer.
What you will do:
Analyzing and understand business needs and translating them into the governance artifacts and product backlog items
Develop technical architecture that support development approach
Forecast and outline technical tasks that guide weekly development in support of technical projects
Partner with a government product owner and collaborate with a Data Science Team of 5-8 FTEs
Work with Product Manager and product teams, solution architects, and DevSecOps engineers to strategize system design and system implementation for high availability, performance, and resiliency
Works with development team to implement, tune, and troubleshoot infrastructure components of the applications (e.g., AWS services, network, OS, PKI)
Designs and implements containerization resources using IaC (e.g., Terraform)
Designs and implements common services and configurations (e.g., logging, SSO, VM Images) using IaC (e.g., Terraform)
Designs and implements automated system management and monitoring capabilities that support resiliency and self-healing
What you need to have:
Must maintain TS-SCI clearance
Bachelor’s degree + 4 years’ practical experience OR Associates degree + 6 years’ practical experience OR Master’s degree + 2 years’ practical experience OR 8 years’ practical experience. Significant experience leading a team to develop an application on AWS platforms, from MVP to production deployment
Significant experience leading the use of Infrastructure-as-Code tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, Azure ARM Templates)
Significant experience working in Government-owned secure networks (e.g., NIPR, SIPR, A-LAN, C-LAN)
Significant hands-on experience developing software in Python (or similar)
Significant experience conducting regular code, configuration, and architecture reviews to ensure technical quality and adherence to best practices
Experience developing, training, and evaluating AI/ML models
Some experience implementing and/or operating application containerization
Some experience with centralized log configuration and monitoring tools
Some experience configuring Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)
Understanding of PKI and certificate management
Ability to be on-site 60% of the time at a client SCIF located in Washington D.C.
