Biologics Analytical R&D Internship Overview
Envision spending your summer working with energetic colleagues and inspirational leaders, all while gaining world-class experience in one of the most dynamic organizations in the pharmaceutical industry. This is a reality for AbbVie Interns.
As a member of the agile and innovative Biologics Analytical Research and Development (R&D) organization, the intern will work to create and develop artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) engines for one or more pharmaceutical development projects.
Key responsibilities may include:
Evaluate various software configurations against pharmaceutical regulatory requirements to determine best options based on pre-established acceptance parameters.
Classify incoming information from different external sources into specific categories, provide meaningful summaries, and identify the appropriate subject matter experts with automated communications.
Design a tool to screen and summarize available financial information and invoices of pre-defined work packages to generate an accurate estimate or prediction of costs for future work.
Create a dynamic tool to automate resource planning and work package projections to predict time and financial efficiencies allowing real-time adjustment of resources, task re-prioritizations and/or outsourcing opportunities.
In addition to delivering on AI/ML projects, key internship expectations include:
Following a dynamic regulatory environment to maintain quality standards, where applicable.
Effectively managing local and global interfaces across impacted stakeholders including R&D and IT functions.
Influencing mid- and long-term strategic focus areas while articulating new opportunities for AI/ML applications within the business.
Building strong relationships with peers to create and implement technology solutions.
Learning fast, grasping the essence, can change course quickly, and open to suggestions where indicated.
This internship will be based in North Chicago, IL.
