SciTec has an immediate opportunity for a talented software engineer to support our programs delivering Next-Generation Missile Warning and Aircraft Tracking software. This is a unique opportunity to join a small business that provides core capabilities for National Security and Defense. Our teams focus on image analysis, low-latency data processing, detection, and tracking algorithms for exploitation of remote sensing systems. The ideal candidate will be a well-rounded Java developer, work well as part of a rapid pace, collaborative, small-team environment, and be able to prototype, develop, integrate, and test advanced software solutions into Government frameworks.
Responsibilities
Works independently on program sub tasks or features, may own small projects or large tasks; technical lead or lead developer for an Agile team.
Demonstrate fluent, idiomatic mastery of Java; comfortable with software design and architecture.
Provide product leadership across multiple teams and projects.
Regularly communicate with customers, present status, engage in program-level meetings and processes.
Prioritization of tasking across multiple concurrent programs
Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in the physical sciences, mathematics, engineering, or computer science and 4+ years of professional experience
At least four years of professional experience and fluency in Java
At least four years of professional experience using Linux operating systems
At least four year of professional experience using package managers and/or build systems like: ant, gradle, or maven
Experience interfacing across multiple teams to design, build, and maintain shared resources
The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance
Knowledge in C++ and Python on Linux
Detail oriented
Good verbal and written communication skills
Candidates who have any of the following skills will be preferred
An advanced degree in the physical sciences, mathematics, engineering, or computer science
Experience with CI/CD process automation and deploying to customer sites with Jenkins, Gitlab, or similar
Experience using legacy Java versions (Java 8) and modern Java versions (Java 22)
Unit, component, and integration test development with a test framework such as JUnit
Experience designing and building shared repositories; communicating with stake-holders
Experience working at various levels of classification - UNCLASSSIFIED, SECRET, TOP-SECRET, and cross-domain
Application containerization and orchestration with docker, docker-compose, podman, Kubernetes, etc.
Experience with the exploitation and analysis of OPIR, E/O, SAR, Spectral, RF, or other remotely sensed data
Professional experience with Agile software development

The pay range for this position is $117,000 - $168,000 / year. SciTec considers several factors when extending an offer of employment, including but not limited to the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
