Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Information Security Systems Specialist to join our onsite team in Bethesda, MD. This role involves performing cyber assessments, analyzing system security practices, supporting Certification and Accreditation (C&A) processes, and ensuring compliance with NIST and/or RMF standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in administering MAC3 and MAC2 environments, conducting security reviews, managing security documentation, investigating security incidents, and supporting two-factor identification protocols.

 

Responsibilities:

Ensures that all projects meet the rigorous Security Assessment and Authorization (SA&A) standards. 

Ensure evolution of advanced IT technologies and robust IT security enhancements using next-generation cybersecurity strategies. 

Design and support security-first focused technology platform and configuration management process. 

Architect and verify security measures are compliant with NIST standards to create a highly secure and efficient computing environment that maximizes productivity and protection for Institute staff. 

Provide comprehensive technical and security support to deliver primary support for critical network and security functions. 

Support security impact analysis for change requests. 

Ensure tools will be designed to monitor and secure endpoints comprehensively, ensuring stringent adherence to federal security standards and enabling a proactive incident response framework.

 

Qualifications:
Required

Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalency.

One or more of the following (IAT III)

CASP+ CE

CCNP Security

CISA

CISSP (or Associate)

GCED

GCIH

CCSP

One or more of the following (IAM III)

CISM

CISSP (or Associate)

GSLC

CCISO

CE: Associate level (professional preferred) certificate for supported technology.

Six (6) years of progressive experience demonstrating the required proficiency

Proficiency in network security, encryption, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and penetration testing tools.

Experience with programming languages like Python, C++, or Java, and familiarity with operating systems (Windows, Linux) and network protocols is important. 

Knowledge of Security Standards and Regulations: Understanding of security frameworks and regulations, such as ISO/IEC 27001, NIST, GDPR, or HIPAA, to ensure compliance and proper implementation of security measures
