MBA Consulting Services, Inc. is actively seeking an experienced Applications Systems Analyst to support our government customer in Merrifield, VA. As part of the Software Process Management (SPM) Team, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Engineering Systems (ES) department of the US Postal Service. The SPM team is focused on maintaining and optimizing the software development life cycle (SDLC) for new and existing mail processing equipment (MPE), mail handling equipment (MHE), and support systems (SS).
The SPM team is responsible for the ES software release process, performing technical reviews, configuration management, independent verification and validation, and software/system testing to ensure smooth software deployment. Working with a combination of legacy Waterfall and hybrid Waterfall-Agile methodologies, the Application Systems Analyst will participate in the development and testing of various software applications that support mail processing and handling equipment.
Your efforts will be instrumental in ensuring that MPE, MHE, and SS are designed, developed, and integrated effectively, including the hardware, operational technology (OT), software applications, and Web-based systems that drive automation processing equipment.
This role requires working onsite in Merrifield, VA, for a minimum of four days a week, providing you with the opportunity to work directly with USPS teams and participate in high-impact projects.

Responsibilities
The candidate will play a pivotal role in developing, documenting, and maintaining our software development processes to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
The suitable candidate will have a deep understanding of software development processes and methodologies for applications and industrial controls and the ability to develop precise technical documentation and communication.
Work with internal and external customers to understand their business needs and requirements with regards to software development processes.
Develop software process documentation and associated templates, procedures, and workflows.
Document legacy processes, evaluate them against industry standards, and develop plans to update or replace them as needed.
Develop and communicate new software processes as standard policies and update the documentation to reflect any changes in the process.
Provide guidance and expertise in the areas of software development life cycles and process improvement methodologies.
Ensure process compliance to established processes by conducting regular assessments, audits, and process improvement plans.
Identify software development process improvement opportunities, and develop plans to implement the changes.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external customers and stakeholders.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Computer Science or an area of relevant specialty (Schools and degree programs must be listed as US Accredited by a US board of accreditation such as ABET).
Minimum of 5 years of experience in documenting material handling equipment systems and Industrial Automation Controls operations.
Minimum of 2 years of experience of software development life cycles, software engineering practices, and agile methodologies.
In-depth knowledge of industry software engineering standards, such as IEEE/EIA-12207, Software Life Cycle Processes.
Technical documentation skills at an expert level and the ability to assess and improve current documentation.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to work with teams and stakeholders at all levels.
Ability to work autonomously, prioritize work, and multitask in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Attention to detail and critical thinking skills.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check & drug test
Able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
