The position may be located in any major Geosyntec office in the U.S. including Houston, TX; Austin, TX; Dallas, TX; Pensacola, FL; Nashville, TN, either on-site, hybrid, or work from home at the company's discretion. The position will work in a fast-paced and deadline-driven professional services environment to create, develop, and maintain company websites, taking on leadership responsibilities within the design team and ensuring that the final product meets both user expectations and business objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Design and Development
Lead Website Design Projects: Oversee the conceptualization and creation of website designs, ensuring they align with brand guidelines and user experience best practices.
Create Wireframes and Mockups: Develop high-fidelity wireframes, prototypes, and mockups using tools like Adobe XD, Figma, or Sketch.
UI/UX Design: Focus on the user interface and experience, ensuring that designs are both aesthetically pleasing and easy to navigate.
Responsive Design: Ensure that websites are fully responsive, providing a seamless experience across devices and screen sizes.
Front-End Development: Occasionally, senior designers may be involved in coding using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, especially in smaller teams.
Collaboration and Leadership
Team Leadership: Supervise junior designers, provide feedback, and ensure that all design work meets high standards of quality.
Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with developers, content creators, and marketing teams to ensure that design elements align with broader business goals.
Client Interaction: Engage with internal and external clients to understand their needs and translate those into design solutions. Present and justify design decisions to stakeholders.
Project Management: Oversee multiple projects, managing timelines, deliverables, and ensuring all tasks are completed on time.
Strategy and Planning
Design Strategy: Contribute to the overall design strategy of the organization, ensuring that all digital products adhere to the latest design trends and user behavior.
Brand Consistency: Maintain consistency in design across all platforms and touchpoints, reinforcing the brand's identity.
Research and Innovation: Stay updated with the latest web design trends, tools, and technologies. Experiment with new techniques and suggest improvements to existing processes.
Quality Assurance
Usability Testing: Conduct or oversee user testing and gather feedback to refine designs before final implementation.
Performance Optimization: Ensure that websites are optimized for performance, including load times, accessibility, and SEO considerations.
Troubleshooting: Identify and solve design-related issues that arise during the development and post-launch phases.
Documentation and Reporting
Design Documentation: Create and maintain documentation of design processes, guidelines, and best practices.
Reporting: Provide regular updates to senior management on the progress of design projects and any challenges faced.
Client and Stakeholder Relations
Client Engagement: Act as a primary point of contact for design-related inquiries from clients, ensuring their satisfaction with the end product.
Stakeholder Communication: Clearly articulate design concepts and choices to non-design stakeholders, ensuring alignment with business goals.
Other related duties as assigned.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field such as Graphic Design, Web Design, Digital Media, Visual Communication, Fine Arts, Computer Science (with a focus on design) and at least 8 years of progressive professional experience in engineering, architecture, commercial construction, or marketing firms specializing in the marketing of professional services; or equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the responsibilities of the position. (required)
Prior experience leading and overseeing a web design team. (required)
A strong design portfolio that showcases a range of projects, including web design, user interface design, and other digital media work. (required)
Mastery of design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Figma, Sketch, and prototyping tools like InVision or Adobe XD. (required)
Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is highly advantageous, especially in smaller teams or projects requiring close collaboration with developers. (preferred)
Ability to create effective presentations and respond to inquiries from internal and external clients; and effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. (required)
Microsoft Windows proficiency including, MS Professional (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat and Creative Suite products, and typing ability. (required)
Ability to work both collaboratively and independently to perform effectively under tight deadlines. (required)
