Job Description: As our Network Performance Engineer, you will take on a critical role in the advanced installation, operation, and maintenance of switching, data communications, and peripheral equipment associated with the Mobile Switching Center (MSC). You ll collaborate with a passionate, highly-skilled team in a dynamic environment, contributing to multi-functional projects that positively impact our business.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate installation, testing, and troubleshooting on voice and data network platforms and transmission facilities (dark and lit fiber services, Gigabit Ethernet Services, OCn, T3, T1, and DS0).
Maintain system applications using traffic and capacity monitoring tools to ensure network performance and track errors.
Monitor building automated systems to maintain network equipment operation (AC/DC power systems, HVAC systems).
Maintain a secure operating environment, ensuring vendor safety and network integrity.
Update daily logs with site-specific information for tracking and maintaining network changes.
Compose reports for system documentation to meet environmental compliance and safety standards.
Work with stakeholder organizations to identify and solve complex network issues.
Identify and implement process improvements, eliminations, or automations.
Assist with cell site build programs and switch inventory management.
Physical Requirements:
Climbing stairs and ladders, working from elevated areas.
Lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
Pushing, pulling, grasping, twisting/bending, crawling, squatting, or kneeling in small spaces.
You'll Need To Have:
Associate s degree or two or more years of relevant work experience.
Three or more years of experience in network performance engineering or a similar field.
Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Even Better If You Have:
A four-year degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
Flexibility to work a varied schedule when needed.
Experience in wireless networks.
Certification or knowledge in LAN/WAN switching and IP routing protocols (CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, or NRS).
Automation/programming and scripting experience (Python, Ansible).
Familiarity with electronic test equipment.
Knowledge of transmission facilities (dark and lit fiber services, Gigabit Ethernet Services, OCn10G, OC48, T3, T1, DS0).
Experience with data/digital communications, Linux OS, telecommunications, or networking support.
Working knowledge of DC power rectification and battery systems.
Project management skills.
Experience with equipment from Ericsson, Samsung, or Nokia.
