?JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking an experienced Sr. Manager, Data Center Facilities to manage all operations and maintenance of Marriott’s business Data Center facilities to enable functioning 24 x 7 x 365. Additionally, this role will support driving and executing on Marriott’s strategy to consolidate and minimize our Data Center footprint. This person is responsible for resources that manage electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and fire/life safety equipment and security within the data centers. The successful candidate is a well-rounded technical person who can comfortably interface and foster collaborative relationships with IT and facilities staff as well as vendors.
This position is based in Frederick, MD and will be required to work onsite in the office at least 4 days per week.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Required Experience and Education:
BS in mechanical or electrical engineering / related field or equivalent work experience, education, certifications
7+ years’ combined experience in data center operations and IT infrastructure and/or platform delivery including: 4+ years’ direct experience in data center facilities and infrastructure including but not limited to: fire suppression systems, VESDA systems, HVAC, Security access and CCTV systems
4+ years’ experience with large scale technical operations or large-scale compute facilities.
3+ years’ contracts and vendor management experience
Strong engineering and maintenance knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems supporting data center uptime requirements
Demonstrated understanding of IT systems and cabling connectivity technology
Demonstrated expertise in the following technologies: MS Teams, Microsoft office, Auto CADD, Change management tools – Service Now/SNOW
Preferred:
Master’s degree in engineering or a related field.
Proven experience in reliability, maintenance, and engineering functions with mission critical facilities.
Experience delivering operational excellence in the areas of safety, security, availability.
Working knowledge of networking/server architecture & data center telecom circuitry.
Demonstrated understanding of infrastructure technologies including some, or all of the following: Operating Systems, Storage Systems, Backup Solutions, Cross data Center Replication.
Proven ability to function independently in ambiguous situations with a record of success.
Influences and builds collaborative teams.
Operates comfortably at a strategic and tactical level.
Well versed in relevant national and international safety and building compliance codes and standards including, UL, IEC, ISO, IBC, NEC/NFPA Life Safety and OSHA.
Good balance of IQ & EQ as an expert problem solver that is to be able to solve challenges across people, process and technology
Strong influencing skills and an ability to overcome barriers while driving change
Strong attention to detail with an ability to operate effectively across multiple priorities

Leads and guides all maintenance/Operations of the business Data Centers
Supports Data Center operation on a 24 x 7 x 365 basis
Ensures department activities and methodologies create value for business goals/objectives
Drives innovation while reducing operational costs in the facilities
Maximizes operational efficiencies and service quality along with managing guidelines.
Helps oversee and plan infrastructure for key initiatives that support service availability and Data Center management.
Helps lead and manage vendors and Service Providers in executing daily operations at Marriott Data Centers
Complements policies and/or procedures that enforce regulatory and corporate policies.
Develops and maintains standard specifications and procedures for maintenance of all assets in the facilities
Lead data center audits and documentations with internal and external audits.
Prepare information and evidence to support audit requirements supporting data center facilities.
Ensures security and emergency preparedness procedures are implemented properly
Assists with critical and facility equipment changes and promptly addresses equipment challenges.
Ensures that the facility is clean and maintained according to company policy and regulatory requirements.
Conducts and documents regular facilities inspections.
Recommends maintenance, mechanical, electrical, and facility design modifications.
Provides solid communication with corporate finance to review budget requirements for forward year, along with quarterly on year budgets.

Assesses and helps determine governance and frameworks for managing technology across the organization.
Creates short-term tactical solutions to achieve both near-term and long-term objectives.
Conducts technology life cycle, duration, usage requirements, feasibility studies, and other tasks.
Identifies and develops opportunities for system reuse, migration, or retirement.
Verifies that technology strategies and architectures are in regulatory compliance
Maintaining Standards and Requirements
Develops and promotes technology management methodologies and standards.
Liaises with vendors and Service Providers to select the products or services that best meet company goals.
Defines requirements for Service Providers for implementing the appropriate tools, software, applications, and systems to support appropriate technology goals.
Defines requirements for Service Providers for establishing methods and procedures for tracking technology quality, completeness,
redundancy, and improvement in collaboration with the Service Providers.
Defines requirements for Service Providers to guarantee the fidelity and performance of technology architecture.
