Role: GIS Developer with FME (Feature Manipulation Engine)

Location: Walnut Creek, CA

Experience: 8+ Year

Duration: 12+ Months

1. Technical Expertise:

Extensive experience (7+ years) in GIS development, particularly with FME (Feature Manipulation Engine).

Proficiency in FME Desktop, FME Server, and FME Cloud, including creating, managing, and optimizing complex data workflows.

Strong knowledge of GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and programming languages such as Python, SQL, and XML.

Familiarity with various data formats (e.g., Shapefiles, GeoJSON, KML, CAD, databases) and the ability to design and implement efficient data transformation processes.

2. Data Integration and Transformation:

Skilled in integrating, transforming, and automating spatial and non-spatial

data from various sources, ensuring data quality and consistency.

Experience with different data formats (e.g., Shapefiles, GeoJSON, KML, CAD, databases) and the ability to design and implement efficient data transformation processes.

Expertise in developing and maintaining ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to ensure seamless data integration and transformation.

3.Problem-Solving and Innovation:

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of identifying and resolving complex GIS data issues.

Ability to innovate and implement new methodologies and tools to improve GIS data processing and analysis workflows.

Proficiency in troubleshooting and optimizing FME processes to enhance performance and efficiency.

4. Documentation and Training:

Experience in creating comprehensive documentation for GIS workflows, processes, and best practices.

Ability to train and mentor junior GIS developers and provide support and guidance to ensure the team's success and continuous improvement.

Proficiency in creating user guides, technical manuals, and training materials for FME solutions.

5. Spatial Data Analysis:

Advanced skills in spatial data analysis and geoprocessing using FME and other GIS tools.

Experience in performing complex spatial queries and analysis to support decision-making processes.

6. System Integration and API Development:

Experience in integrating FME with other enterprise systems (e.g., ERP, CRM, BI tools) to streamline data workflows.

Proficiency in developing and utilizing APIs for data exchange between FME and other systems.

Knowledge of web services (e.g., REST, SOAP) for integrating spatial data across platforms.

7. Performance Monitoring and Optimization:

Ability to monitor and optimize FME workflows for performance, ensuring efficient use of resources and timely data processing.

Experience in using FME Server's automation and scheduling capabilities to manage and optimize data workflows.

Proficiency in setting up monitoring and alerting mechanisms for FME processes to ensure data pipeline reliability.

8. Client and Stakeholder Management:

Strong skills in managing client relationships, understanding their needs, and translating them into technical requirements.

Ability to present complex GIS and FME solutions to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.

Experience in providing ongoing support and maintenance for deployed FME solutions, ensuring client satisfaction.

9.Compliance and Best Practices:

Knowledge of data privacy laws, industry regulations, and best practices related to GIS and data management.

Ability to ensure compliance with relevant standards and guidelines in all GIS and FME development activities.
