About the Opportunity:
The Network Engineer role requires extensive hands-on Cisco and Juniper hardware experience and supporting larger environments. All Network Engineers are responsible for supporting for the FDIC network infrastructure in a manner that provides a reliable, secure, and scalable environment that align to the operational requirements of our customer. All Network Team members periodically work after hours to support systems outage and critical infrastructure upgrades. This position may also require an on-site presence one, or more, days per week.

 

Duties and Responsibilities: Network Engineer - Essential Job Functions

Provide higher-level hardware and software support for Cisco, Juniper, Aruba, and NetScaler network devices

Continuously deliver clear, concise, timely communication to our customers to ensure confidence in our team.

Provide timely and effective support and escalation for network systems.

Troubleshoot and resolve issues impacting network systems, within the agreed MTTR objectives.

Contribute to the resolution efforts, during High or Critical Incidents and participate in root cause analysis process.

Work closely with development and operational teams, on a global basis, to ensure rapid service restoration.

Follow process and procedure standards to improve service availability and overall efficiency of systems.

Recommends technical solutions, architecture designs, and implementation methodologies that scale.

Monitor hardware patch levels (performance and vulnerabilities) and create tickets for required work activities.

Support, protect and help maintain the network and security systems, on a 24 x 7 basis, as assigned.

Continually develop expertise on emerging technologies and implementation strategies for infrastructure systems.

Improve future resolution of incidents by identifying the need for new and improving existing knowledge articles.

Participates in network documentation of all environments, including IPAM, DNS, WAN, LAN, WLAN, and other areas.

Adhere to all applicable legal and compliance requirements, policies and procedures, and standard operating practices.

Demonstrated experience with BGP, OSPF, STP, TCP/IP, DNS and DHCP, along with Azure VNET’s, Routing and Firewalling

Effective time management and organizational skills and ability to translate technical issues for business users

Work independently as well as in a team environment with effective interpersonal communication skills

Respects and values diversity, functions as a team member, and is able to work on initiatives with minimal supervision.

Thrives in a fast-paced environment and looks for ways to do things more effectively (Current Mode vs Future Mode)

Additional responsibilities may be added by Manager, Director, or Human Resources

 

Qualifications:
Education and Experience:

BS Degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent work experience (required)             

7+ years of relevant technical Network Engineering or Security Engineering/Network Engineering experience (required)

Certifications: Desire two, or more, of the following: CCNP, CCDP, CCIE, CCSP, CISSP, ITIL, or other related certs (required)

 Required Skills:

Extensive experience in Data Center environments (Arista, Aruba, Cisco, Juniper, etc.)

Extensive experience supporting WAN Routers and Layer 2/Layer 3 LAN switches (Arista, Aruba, Cisco, Juniper, etc.)

Some experience with Wireless Access Points (Arista, Aruba, Cisco, etc.)

Some experience with Firewall systems (Checkpoint, Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, etc.)

Some experience with Load-Balancing appliances (Cisco, NetScaler, F5, etc.)

Extensive experience with monitoring, reporting and ticketing tools (Solarwinds, OpsView, PRTG, SNOW-ITOM, etc.)

Extensive experience with Layer 1, Layer 2, and Layer 3 troubleshooting of WAN circuits and Layer 2/Layer 3 LAN networks
