Our firm works with clients in a number of industries and has a rapidly growing restaurant and hospitality division that serves clients nationwide.

We are looking for an in-person only Tax Project Analyst in the Topeka office. Full-time availability is needed, 2300 hours per year. After initial training of approximately 4 - 6 months, a hybrid-remote work schedule can be discussed.

If you are the right person for this opportunity, you will have experience managing projects; leading the power of attorney (POA) process; as well as managing and improving the income tax notice process.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Project manage and coordinate all POA documents and consolidate POAs across all departments

Design, implement, and maintain a new POA process for new client onboards for all departments to ensure critical information is collected and POA established within 30 days of client onboard in any department

Coordinate technical experts to lead system demonstrations

Design an enhanced workflow for all client tax notices and ensure executed in a timely and high-quality manner

Assist in developing and documenting a standardized onboarding process to ensure high quality client experience

Design and deliver on an enhanced client communication strategy tied to payroll notices to ensure client is informed on any tax notice status changes and has a central point of contact at Mize to address any communication concerns

Prepare POA and tax notice workflows to develop the most efficient internal management

Analyze internal and external software solutions to automate tracking and management of POAs and tax notices

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage tax-related projects

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

In-office work during training, due to the interaction necessary with trainer; amount of time required will vary based on the individual's experience and abilities

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field

Ability to work independently and drive continuous process improvement

Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills

Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities

Preferred Qualifications:

Interest in pursuing an EA or CPA for further career advancement

Tax experience in a public accounting setting

Project management experience in a professional services firm
