MBA is hiring five full-time resources to join our Software Process Management (SPM) Team in a customer work environment in Merrifield, VA. The SPM Team supports our client, Engineering Systems (ES) of the US Postal Service. SPM is a dedicated team that maintains the ES software development life cycle (SDLC) process on new mail process equipment (MPE) / mail handling equipment (MHE) / support systems (SS) and maintenance releases on existing equipment. We are looking to augment the existing team with a variety of talented resources.

The SPM Team is responsible for the ES software release process and performs technical reviews of application software development for MPE, MHE, and SS. Within the SDLC process, SPM performs configuration management, independent verification and validation, as well as software and system test activities tasks to support and participate in the release process. The USPS ES organization designs and develops MPE/MHE, including integration of the respective support systems/subsystems for the equipment. The automation processing equipment consists of a combination of hardware, controls systems (operational technology, OT), software applications, databases, and Web applications in a combination of distributed and centralized environments.

The current SDLC includes legacy Waterfall and hybrid Waterfall-Agile processes, with most development teams still using the Waterfall process. The SDLC tools in place for the SDLC process are customized using MicroFocus Serena Business Management (SBM) and Dimensions applications, and the ES Web site (reports and training documents). The SPM Team supports and manages these systems. SPM’s hybrid-Agile process includes VersionOne and ALM Enterprise applications and customized hybrid-Agile process steps in the SBM application.
