DPP is seeking a Network Administrator for an opportunity in Columbia, SC. Candidates must be eligible to earn a low-level US security clearance.

 

Work arrangement:

Onsite, Sunday through Thursday

W2 position; 12 months

Must be eligible to earn a low-level US security clearance, which requires a thorough background search and US citizenship.

Summary:

This team is responsible for all of the Layer 1 aspects of the Data Closets and Data Centers enterprise wide.

They rack/stack all network and server equipment in the primary data centers as well as supporting all Data Closets/Server Rooms across the enterprise.

Overall this team is fully responsible for the Layer 1 infrastructure supporting the business and have to fully support that infrastructure.

Top skills:

Experience supporting enterprise IT equipment in Data Closets/Data Centers.

Also, experience tracing, running, and connecting all types of IT cabling in professional Data Center environments (Copper, Ethernet, Fiber, etc.).

Ability to work/life servers, switches, and other enterprise level IT equipment.

Minimum required work experience:

2 years of network or other job related experience.

Job/class description:

Administers infrastructure including hardware, software, and various configurations. Provides administration and maintenance of user devices and communications links to assure operational availability. Deploys and administers routing protocols and network devices (switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers). Administers and tests networking hardware and software. Performs remedial maintenance of network devices including the restoration of hardware and software.

Administers use, capacity and performance of network systems. Focuses on both hardware and software aspects of network operations across multiple platforms. Works with end users and vendors to resolve network hardware/software issues.

Upgrades and configures network devices from multiple vendors. Maintains effective relationships with external suppliers to ensure appropriate levels of support. Schedules, plans, and performs system upgrades, including coordinating the transition from test to production environments.

Confers with network users about how to solve problems affecting network performance. Validates and adjusts network configuration when needed to resolve issues. Generates network utilization/trending/error reports as requested. Observes and controls the status and performance of all components of network/system facilities.

Maintains change control of network devices. Control access to, and authorization level of network devices. Anticipates and mitigates potential attacks through network or other connections to ensure the security of the system. Maintains effective security/backup and disaster recovery processes and systems. Performs data backups and disaster recovery operations as needed.

Address network vulnerabilities within audit-mandated time frames. Ensure network compliance with audit requirements. Participates in continuous review and update to ensure that processes meet changing business unit conditions. •

Creates and maintains process and procedure documentation. Provides feedback on commonly encountered problems and misunderstandings to enhance user documentation and/or training programs etc. Works with others to establish and improve processes and procedures.

Updates knowledge and skills to keep up with rapid advancements in network administration technology.

Work environment:

Immediate team of about 3-4 folks.

They will work with the Network department as a whole which is around 50 staff.

Fast paced, multi-platformed environment which may require action and response 24X7 to support the technical business needs of the customer.

Required education/equivalencies:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other job-related degree;

OR, Associate’s degree in CS, IT, or other job-related degree plus 2 years of work-related experience;

OR, 4 years job-related work experience (total 6 years without a degree)
