What will be your daily pursuit?:
We are seeking an IT Systems Manager with a broad skill set to manage and evolve the IT infrastructure for Pursuit’s growing team. This role will be a hands-on role as the primary technical leader, responsible for managing enterprise computing environments with a strong focus on Microsoft Azure, VMware, and Microsoft 365 systems. The position requires expertise in maintaining existing client environments hosted in Azure, implementing new systems and automations, and ensuring best practices in Azure, MS Windows, and Cyber Security. The ideal candidate will combine leadership, planning, and technical expertise to align IT initiatives with business objectives.

What is the compensation for this role?:
The salary range for this role is $145,000/year to $160,000/year based on experience and skill set. This role is eligible for a yearly 10% bonus. What will you do in this job?:

Leadership & Team Management:

Lead & Mentor: Oversee a team of IT professionals and contractors, fostering a motivated and productive work environment.

Training & Development: Develop and implement training programs to upskill team members.

Process Improvement: Identify and implement automation and efficiency improvements across IT operations.

Documentation Consistency: Ensure documentation is consistent and current across sites to enable seamless cross-support.

Budget & Forecast Management: Help manage budgets and forecasts, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with department heads and business stakeholders to understand IT needs and provide aligned technology solutions.

Cross-Department Communication: Facilitate communication between IT and other departments, ensuring smooth technology integration.

Infrastructure Design & Technical Management:

Infrastructure Implementation: Design, support, and implement infrastructure solutions, including cloud (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), physical infrastructure, networking, and storage.

Problem Solving: Analyze and classify technology issues, prioritize problems, document causes, and implement solutions.

End-to-End Service Delivery: Focus on the full lifecycle of service delivery, from design to operations, ensuring that IT systems and vendors deliver high-quality services.

Technical Specifications: Create system specifications that meet business needs and collaborate with stakeholders to design solutions.

Risk Management: Plan, design, and execute technology solutions while ensuring deployment risks are documented and mitigated.

Process Optimization: Identify opportunities for process improvements or automation and implement these initiatives.

Multi-System Support: Manage and support complex systems or applications with multiple concurrent users, ensuring system control and accessibility.

 Technical Leadership & Project Management:

Enterprise Initiatives: Lead enterprise-level work initiatives and IT projects, ensuring successful implementation.

Technical Liaison: Act as the liaison between operations teams, engineers, and architects, providing operational insight for upcoming implementations and validating the supportability of ongoing solutions.

Cost & Time Estimates: Develop accurate cost and time estimates for project initiatives.

Disaster Recovery Planning: Participate in disaster recovery planning to ensure business continuity in case of emergencies.

Vendor Collaboration: Work with vendors to resolve technical issues and manage hardware/software support.

Cloud & Virtualization Management:

Azure & VMware Management: Manage and optimize Azure Cloud environments, including VMWare and Hyper-V virtualization platforms.

Automation: Implement automation for system management and monitoring to improve efficiency.

Cyber Security: Ensure infrastructure complies with security best practices, including SOX and PCI compliance where applicable.

System Deployment: Lead the design, deployment, and maintenance of new systems, ensuring alignment with best practices and business needs.

System Maintenance & Support:

System Installation & Testing: Oversee the installation, testing, and maintenance of computer systems and peripherals, establishing clear guidelines and standards.

Infrastructure Reliability: Maintain the ongoing reliability, performance, and support of enterprise computing environments, including both cloud and on-premises systems.

Backup & Disaster Recovery: Ensure effective data backup strategies and participate in developing disaster recovery plans.

Complex Problem Solving: Diagnose and resolve complex IT infrastructure problems, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.

What skills and experience do you need for this job?:

Qualifications:

Degree in Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT infrastructure, with expertise in Azure Cloud, Windows/Linux Servers, VMware, and Hyper-V Virtualization.

Strong proficiency with Windows Server operating systems, Linux (Red Hat, Ubuntu), and Windows Active Directory.

Knowledge of data backup methodologies and related products.

Expertise in designing and deploying reliable infrastructure systems with strong problem-solving skills.

Understanding of disaster recovery principles, tools, and methods.

Experience with cloud deployments in Azure, automated monitoring, and alerting tools.

Knowledge of SOX and PCI compliance is desirable.

Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including protocols, diagnosing network issues, and managing network devices.

Proven project management experience is preferred.

Skills:

Ability to create technical documents with both text and graphical elements to keep various operational teams informed.

Self-starter with a strong sense of initiative, bringing new ideas and solutions to the table.

Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts to diverse audiences.

Willingness to work with geographically dispersed teams in a seasonal environment.

Strong organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment.

A sense of urgency in completing tasks accurately and in a timely manner.

In-depth knowledge of IT principles, practices, and emerging technologies.

Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and strategic thinking skills.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

Relevant certifications (e.g., ITIL, MCSE) are a plus.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs with assistance.

Travel Requirements:

Up to 25% travel may be required for this role.
