Role Title :Functional Tester
Location: Mechanicsburg, PA
Required Skills:
Functional Testing
Testing Tools and methodology
Experience in Agile and Waterfall methodologies
Test management skills
REQUIRED SKILLS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Candidate must have at least 2-3 years of IT experience, of which the last 1 year is focused on end-to-end software testing, including creating and executing test scenarios, analyzing, and documenting software defects based on stated requirements and design specifications.
Knowledge of the public sector, specifically state government programs and applications.
Good understanding of interpreting business requirements, system design, and creating compelling test scenarios
Proficiency in at least one test case management and defect management tool.
E.g., Microsoft Test Manager (MTM), HP Application Lifecycle Management (ALM), Quality Center (QC)
End-to-end solid knowledge of SDLC (software development lifecycle) and STLC (software testing lifecycle) in waterfall as well as agile methodology
Must be able to create SQL queries against an Oracle database when necessary to verify business scenarios have been met.
Experience with data conversion environment involving legacy systems to the modern technology platform.
Analyze test results against functional design and expected results.
Manage defect creation, tracking, prioritization, and coordinate resolution with the development team and functional leads.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
Ability to balance multiple task assignments
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to exercise mature judgment
PREFERRED SKILLS:
Understanding of integrated eligibility worker portal and citizen-facing applications is a plus.
Preference will be given to those familiar with government-integrated eligibility systems (Medicaid, SNAP/TANF, or Child Care).
Testing Techniques - Understand the various approaches used in testing, including white-box, black-box, interface testing, coverage testing, and regression testing.
Experience with methodologies including, but not limited to, Agile, RUP, Lean, or Waterfall
A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
Experience in creating and executing automation scripts using VBScript and tools such as TFS Coded UI, Selenium, or Microsoft Test Manager
