An average day:
As Systems Administrator II | Active Directory, you will be responsible for supporting the administration and maintenance of IT infrastructures, including domestic and international data centers, for a large federal enterprise effort. This role involves working with server environments, implementing security measures, and ensuring system performance. You will collaborate with senior administrators and other IT teams to support mission-critical systems and contribute to system improvements. Additionally, in this position you will:
Support the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of operating systems and applications.
Work with virtualization technologies, such as VMware and Hyper-V, to support virtual environments.
Implement basic security measures, including system hardening and routine patching.
Assist with managing storage solutions (SAN, NAS) and backup/recovery operations.
Participate in system upgrades, migrations, and disaster recovery activities.
Maintain documentation for system configurations, procedures, and standard operating guidelines.
Troubleshoot and resolve routine system issues and respond to service requests.
Collaborate with network, security, and application teams to ensure system compatibility and integration.
Provide input on system design and enhancements, contributing to the improvement of the overall infrastructure
Design, implement and maintain Active Directory infrastructure including forests, domains, OUs, and domain controllers while ensuring optimal replication and performance
Manage user accounts, groups, and security policies including creation, modification, deletion, and password management while maintaining accurate documentation
Implement and maintain Group Policy Objects (GPOs) for security, software deployment, and system configurations across the organization
Monitor and maintain Active Directory health, including regular backups, database maintenance, performance optimization, and disaster recovery procedures
Configure and manage DNS/DHCP services, certificate services, and multi-factor authentication systems
Handle AD integration with other enterprise systems, including Azure AD sync and hybrid environment management
Provide advanced technical support for AD-related issues, including troubleshooting authentication, replication, and access problems
Ensure compliance with security policies through regular auditing, monitoring security logs, and maintaining required documentation
Plan and execute AD-related projects including upgrades, migrations, and implementation of new features while coordinating with other IT teams
Basic Qualifications:
As a requirement of this position, all candidates must be a U.S. Citizen. In accordance with , Epsilon will not consider candidates for this position who do not meet the aforementioned conditions.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, plus 3+ years of Windows Server administration and 2+ years of hands-on Active Directory administration experience
Desired Microsoft certification in Windows Server, plus at least one advanced certification (Microsoft 365 Enterprise Admin, MCSE Core Infrastructure, or Identity and Access Administrator)
Proven experience with Active Directory core services including AD DS, Domain Controller management, OU structure, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP, and replication
Strong knowledge of Windows Server infrastructure, including PowerShell scripting, GPO management, networking, and certificate services
Demonstrated expertise in AD security best practices, including authentication protocols, access control, security groups, password policies, and multi-factor authentication
Experience with AD troubleshooting, performance monitoring, backup/recovery procedures, and change management
Proficiency in user/group management, system documentation, and Azure AD integration for hybrid environments
Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with ability to work in a team environment and provide user support
Knowledge of LDAP, AD migration tools, AD diagnostic tools, and automation capabilities
Other Requirements:
Must have an active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret with SCI eligibility or have an active Top Secret with SCI eligibility.
Will be subject to a federal background investigation.
