Infrastructure Solution Architect

Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for researching, planning, and installing enterprise solutions that may comprise networking or software technologies, and supporting life safety systems that directly impact the public. Key responsibilities include:

Assessing existing network, software, and current solutions to make recommendations based on product specifications and best cybersecurity practices.

Configuring equipment and software to meet business needs, training others on the solution, and documenting the solution for ongoing support.

Functioning as part of a team on larger projects or individually providing services on support visits or smaller projects.

Providing technical support and assisting with the design of infrastructure solutions.

Responding to Tier 1 and 2 network and software support requests.

Communicating effectively with teammates and customers of varying levels of technical expertise.

Responding to all break/fix requests associated with network resources.

Designing extensions of and connections to the campus network.

Assisting with the configuration and deployment of new/replacement network hardware and communications infrastructure.

Maintaining up-to-date project and architecture documentation.

Maintaining up-to-date inventory and maintenance records.

Monitoring network resources for faults and traffic anomalies.

Resolving connection issues between users and resources.

Maintaining a detailed change history of network changes.

Supporting ITS Field Maintenance with communications' implementation and troubleshooting.

Supporting team efforts to improve cybersecurity controls and defenses.

Supporting team efforts for threat hunting and mitigation.

Managing time and resource constraints.

Experience and Skills

We are looking for a solid mid-level team member who brings 6-10 years of hands-on networking experience. The ideal candidate will have:

A 4-year degree in computer science, another technology discipline, or any discipline (strongly desired).

Industry certifications (heavily preferred).

10 years of general information technology experience (required).

5 years of experience in Cisco Routing and Switching (required).

5 years of experience in VLAN Management (required).

2 years of experience in Network Design (required).

5 years of experience in Subnetting (required).

4 years of experience in Routing Protocols (BGP, OSPF, etc.) (required).

2 years of experience in Authentication (Radius, TACACS, etc.) (required).

2 years of experience in VPN & Remote Access Technologies (required).

2 years of experience in Network Security (highly desired).

2 years of experience in DNS/DHCP (nice to have).

2 years of experience in Network Monitoring (nice to have).

2 years of experience in Network Cable Management (nice to have).

2 years of experience in Firepower (nice to have).

2 years of experience in Solutions Design Build (nice to have).

2 years of experience in Integration Troubleshooting (must have).

2 years of experience in Cybersecurity (highly desired).

2 years of experience in Software Integrations (nice to have).

Additional Information

This role will require both phone and in-person interviews. The work arrangement is strictly on-site in Virginia Beach, VA.
